Question about 1999 Plymouth Breeze
P0172 error code on the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system indicates that the fuel mixture is running rich. The oxygen sensor is making this call. Given the year of the vehicle, chances are good that it is simply a bad O2 sensor. If the engine idles fine and turns off without any run-on, etc. then you could likely drive it without any issue and just replace the O2 sensor when you are able to do so. If you live in Northern Virginia (and likely California) and you must bring your vehicle in for an emissions test, the O2 sensir will have to be replaced prior to the test.
