Question about 1995 Jaguar XJ6

1 Answer

I have a Jaguar x300 1995 3.2 sport engine won't start, I just whines over like the starter motor is stuck. The battery is fullly charged so if it is the starter motor do i have to take the manifold off to get at the starter motor or is there an easier way?Or do you think it could be another problem? Hoping to hear from you soon. Thank you. Richard Oliver

I tried to look it up on the autozone site. They have a guide at the following address:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/common/repairInfoMain.jsp?leftNavPage=productsHowTo&partCode=0900c15280213e7f&title=Starter&targetPage=productInformation

But, they said they were experiencing technical difficulty when I selected starter and remove and replace. So, maybe if you log on later it will work for you.

Good luck on this repair.

Why won t my car turnover

  • Okay, a clicking sound is the solenoid engaging the starter drive gear but the starting motor is not turning over. First possible is low battery. Second is bad or dirty connection, usually battery terminal. Good enough to energize solenoid but not enough amps to spin starter. Third is a bad starter motor, usually a brush corroded, worn or stuck.
  • Lift the hood and look at the battery terminals. if they are clean and tight, check the battery for charge. I usually hook a booster on and try cranking the engine over. ZIf it works, charge or replace the battery.
  • If it didn't crank, Take a jumper cable and connect the one end to the battery positive. Touch the other end to the starter motor terminal. Motor should turn over, if not, replace the starter.

2001 GMC jimmy won't start. New starter, new

If the starter motor is turning the problem may be a broken flywheel tooth. If starter is not engaging the solenoid may be bad or not hooked up but that seems unlikely since starter was replaced. The problem's down there. If solenoid not clicking then problem may be further back.

2001 jaguar s-type won't crank battery new and charged. Turn the ignition car won't make a sound

many things will cause no start problems could have faulty ignition switch.use test light see if power going to starter if not check ignition fuse to starter.if power going to starter, more likely starter solenoid or starter faulty.if ignition fuse okay and starter and solenoid okay still no start problem could be in the ignition switch or inhibitor switch faulty.code scan for faulty theft security system which will also cause no start conditions.

the clicking that you hear is coming from the starter relay. sounds like your ignition starter switch or ignition lock cylinder is bad.

I have a jaguar x type 2002 and now and again I try to start it nothing happens. All I here is some clicking but engine won't start. Happening more and more.

Sounds like a loose connection, check your battery terminals are tight. if you have to boost or jump start the car check your battery condition and alternator output. Check the terminal on the starter motor and solenoid. Finally check the starter

Whining noise coming from starter motor when starting car this stops as soon as engine starts

This is an indicator of a failing starter. Replace as soon as possible before it leaves you stranded.

2002 jaguar x type wont start, lights, radio, air have power. clicking sound when turning the key to start the engine. Engine light stays, no engine turnover

Hi .
unlikely to be immobiliser fault ,so check basics, try a set of jump leads or check battery voltage above 12.5,if the clicking is coming from the starter motor with a fully charged battery then suspect starter motor failure.
