Hello! You didn't specify which engine that you had, so I will supply you with both V6 (3.4) and V8 (5.7).

V6: 1-2-3-4-5-6
driver's side: 2-4-6 (2 is at the front)
passenger side: 1-3-5 (1 is at the front)
V8: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
driver's side: 1-3-5-7 (1 is at the front)
passenger side: 2-4-6-8 (2 is at the front)

For the 1997 Pontiac Grand Am:
I do not know if you have the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 3.1L V6. However I have included both below. I suspect based on the SE Model you have the 3.1L V6.

For the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder:

123456on passengers side are starting at the front of the engine to the back 1 3 5,and on the drivers side 2 4 6.Now the coils are marked if they are oem,but if they are not it is front,to back 52 36 41,spark plugs are gaped .060 If this was helpful,please rate,and thank you.

it sound like you have a problem with your electronic systerm the car is not fire or run so start at the electronic spark control module because the you main spark for run and fire then your coil have to be change there are three all autozone had evething you to get go 231.00
