Bad contact on the instrument cluster. Turn the key on the run position and hit the dash above the steering wheel a few times, or put your hands on the face of the instrument cluster and wiggle it a little bit. Watch for the gages to come back and the heater controls to stop flashing (you didn't mention that). Consider finding a new cluster. But please try this before rating my assistance and leaving a testimonial.

96 s-10. Temperature gage shows normal temp. Heater blows only COLD air. Can you help?

Check the heater hoses at the engine firewall are they hot? If so then the air temperature control blend door is either jammed or the motor that operates it is defective or both.

Heater in 02 Dodge 1500 truck

once the truck is fully warmed up, feel the 2 heater hoses going through the firewall in the engine compartment. they should be hot to the touch. if they are, then the problem is most likely the heater controls, such as the temp. switch on the dash or the blend door itself inside the dash. if they are cool, check that the coolant is completely full. just because the temp gauge reads normal doesn't mean there's enough coolant in the system to fill the heater core. remove the radiator cap once cooled and top off if needed. if it is, or was, low, its possible to get air the the cooling system and block flow of coolant to heater core.

Warm heat not hot

Check antifreeze level, if it is low coolant may not flow through heater core. If coolant level is ok feel the heater hose with engine running at normal operating temp and heat on high, if one hose is much cooler than the other you have a bad heat control valve or a pluged heater core.

Yeks, quick (when engine cool) make sure your radiator is FULL and engine is AIR BLED at the thermastadt. If your master brake cylinder is assisted power your DIAPHARM could be ruptured. Causes low vac in system so heater controls only work at idle the changes to cold when driving

Most likely cause is a broken dual zone blend/temp door in the heater box. There is a revised part available from a dealer. It is a big job to replace requiring the dash to come out and heater box. Sometimes, but rarely, it is one of the electric actuators or control head that's the culprit.
