There is only 1 crank sensor in your car. its right above the passesnger side drive shaft where it goes into the transmission. not easy to replace. I am recommending that you take it to nissan dealer or have it done by someone who is in the automotive field. really not that easy to replace.

My husband is trying to fix my 04 dodge ram 1500 4.7l, the computer says to replace the crank sensor and or cam sensor. the crank sensor was replaced a month ago. it wont stay running. but he doesnt know...

On the 4.7L, the cam position sensor is located on the right cylinder head (thats the passenger side) toward the front below the valve cover gasket. Not on the front of the head but on the side where the exhaust manifold is attched at the forward end of the head. The crankshaft position sensor is located on the same side (right) but is at the opposite end of the engine between the bell housing and the block. The crankshaft position sensor can be replaced without removing the engine or transmission, it just looks tight. Also, on the crankshaft position sensor, it slides out of a rubber gromet. I can't find the location of the crankshaft postion sensor in my 2000 Hyundai sonata

My online Sonata manual shows these possibilities, but does not identify which applies specifically to 2000 Sonata.
Also, when you talk to the dealership parts counter, you'll need to know whether your 2000 Sonata is (a) 4-cylinder 2.4L MFI DOHC engine, or (b) 6-cylinder 2.5L MFI DOHC engine.
Its easy to tell - just count your spark plug wires.

-- begine excerpt from 2000 Hyundai Sonata Repair guide --

The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel.
The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel/torque converter.
The camshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the timing belt cover and under the upper radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the driver-s side of the vehicle, down by the lower radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the crankshaft pulley.
The crankshaft position sensor is located at the front of the engine near the timing belt.

The crank sensor is located on the engine near the flywheel axis of the crankshaft.

Crankshaft Position Sensor Removal & Installation To Remove:

Location of the crankshaft position sensor on the 3.0L engine 91154g20.gif
Location of the crankshaft position sensor on the 3.3L and 3.8L engines 91154g21.gif
NOTE: On the 2.4L engine, the crankshaft position sensor is mounted to the engine block behind the alternator, just above the oil filter. On the 3.0L, 3.3L and 3.8L engines, the crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the transaxle housing, above the vehicle speed sensor.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor electrical connector.
  4. Unfasten the sensor mounting screw, then remove the sensor from the vehicle by pulling it straight out.
To Install:
NOTE: If the sensor removed is going to be re-installed, clean off the old spacer on the sensor face. A new spacer must be attached to the sensor face before installation. If the sensor is being replaced, be sure that a paper spacer is attached to the sensor face.
  1. Install sensor and push the sensor in until contact is made. While holding the sensor in this position, install and tighten the mounting bolt to 105 in. lbs. (12 Nm).
  2. Connect the crankshaft position sensor electrical connector.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Find crank position sensor

The crankshaft position sensor should be located behind the vibration damper/harmonic balancer and it will have to be removed before the crankshaft position sensor can be replaced. (Let me know if you require assistance with the proceedure)

Also, it usually requires a special tool to align that sensor (available from most auto part stores) and if the sensor is not properly aligned then damage to the sensor or the tone ring can occur.

Here is an image of the crankshaft position sensor with the vibration damper/harmonic balancer removed.

Note: In the bottom of the 2.3L drawing says Trottle Position (TP) Sensor, this is wrong, It should say CKP Sensor.

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located to the left of the crankshaft pulley.
