In other cases, the low engine coolant was the cause for my problem. I suggest keep checking it for leaks, but I have found none. So I just keep checking it and filling as necessary.

Keep us updated.

Maybe the heater core needs to be back flushed. Its probablly the heater core is clogged, disconnect the hoses and reverse flush it. Also, there is a cable that opens and closes a valve for the heater core.
Possibly have that checked out... don't know where exactly it is, but I
know theres a cable that does let coolant flow into the heater core for

Heated air still comes out of my vents even when the air is off

You might have a faulty water valve. The hot air in the car is supplied by the engine cooling system. As the engine works, it heats up and water is circulated through the system and kept at a cooling level by the radiator. However, this water is still hot, and by turning on the heat in the car, a valve is opened that allows the hot water to circulate through the heater core inside the car.
This core is in fact just a mini radiator, and air from the blower fan inside the car blows air through this mini radiator, thus supplying hot air in the car.
If you don't want hot air in the car, the heater control operates a valve that shuts off the hot water from the engine. If this valve is faulty, it will allow hot water to circulate through the system. Another possibility is that the cable operating the water valve might be maladjusted or the cable or the lever operating the cable is broken or faulty. It often happens that the outer part of the cables slip and the controls operate so-so but never well.
If the cables to the dashboard controls are not adjusted properly or have started slipping, it could also cause the fresh air vent to not close properly, and this will cause a flow of air even when the controls and the fan are turned to the off position.
You can remove the control panel from the dash and check the cables and controls, but it is a finicky job. Maybe you want to take the car to a mechanic?

2005 Nissan Sentra - only blowing hot air from vents. Even when it is set on cold. It is only coming out of the feet vents as well and maybe a little from the defrost. The different air strengths...

is this a new problem or just a new car?
tell what you expect?
no car has perfect venting and never will.

is the problem, temperature lever set to cold
but i get hot air?
yes, then the temperature control is broken
to see why, read the manual, RTM
each car make and models and years, vary.
but there are 3 types.
some use a simple cable, and can just come loose
its all in the FSM.
at alldata dot com, its all there.
same thing at mitchels too.

Hot air blows thru the vents all the time

Just fixed this problem on my '06 Sentra. The AC lines were freezing cold so I figured the system was cooling with no problems but the cold air wasn't getting to the cabin for some reason. I put a snake camera in through the vent behind and to the left of the glove box(you have to remove all of the panels) and saw that the cable that gets pulled/released when you turn the hot/cold knob had broken off from the retaining clip. This caused the whole line to move when the knob turned meaning that the cable wasn't actually being pulled in when turning the knob to cold. I pulled the center dash and CD player out and the cable was right there so I secured it in place with a zip tie. Everything works like new now.

I have an 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE i live in ND and the heater only blows luke warm air while at full operating temperature. I replaced the thermostat and flushed the heater core which seemed clean....

Sounds like it's the air control flap which determines the mix of heated and fresh air. This could be vacuum controlled or manually with a cable.

Heater blowing cold air

My 05 sentra with 79k miles heat will warm up and then get cold after a mile of driving, we have tried to get the air pocket out, the mechanic stated he thought it could be a blown head gasket, another mechanic said it was a bad heater core. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cold Am . I turned the left knob 45 degree . All i get is HEAT,knob moves

Hi rafis1234,
if you are handy, you can remove the small dash panel where the a/c control knobs are and then you'll access the lever mechanism and most of the time you'll find a rusty lever or someting has jammed the lever.

2003 Nissan Sentra Problem overheating and heater doesn't work.

does the car overheat at idle or travelling down the road? if the thermostat was not changed, thats first step. checking it is replacing it. possibly air-bound. then i would suspect a headgasket problem.
