We are having the same problem. It has been pressure tested and there are no leaks in rad or hoses. With the fan not coming on we are over heating and the water is boiling over in the reserve. When I put the the knob over to the defrost the fan comes on. I was told to get the thermostat changed which is something you can do yourself. I was wondering if there are two thermostats, one for the fan and one for the rad

I just installed a thermostat in my 2000 lincoln ls and now the heater and defrost dont work. heater just blows out cool air

make sure you installed the themostat the right way and that it has the proper heat range for your vechicule.normally after installing a thermostat, you remve the rad cap and fill the radiator with antifreeze, then srart the car and wait till the themostat opens and prestone level falls.refill rad and put rad cap back on.turn on heater and you should have heat,if not have your rad cap tested to make sure it is holding the proper pressure.your antifreeze mixture should be 50\50.

GOOD FAN NO HEAT CORE CLEAR

look in the engine bay near the fire wall behind the motor u should see 2 about 1inch dia. blach heater hoses about 3-5 inch from eachother those are ur heater core hoses one of which will have a type of box made of plastic with ither wires going into it or a vacume hose going into it on most cars this controld the flow of hot water passing threw the core as u move the heat selector from cold to hot it controls this valve perhaps this is ur problem or u have a jammed thermastat when jamed open it alows too much flow between the motor and the radd never alowing the motor to fully heat up, or ur water pump gone bad (not likely) what is your prestone mix ratio should be 60%prestone-40%water mix also make sure your rad is full a quick way to see if ur water pump is working is when the motor is cold open the radd start the car some prestone will leak out normal-- when the car gets to operating temp the lever will go down cause the thermastate will open alowing water to pass into the motor now slightly rev the motor to about 2000 rpm the level in the radd should drop every time u gass it if not might b a flow problem also if its winter in your location put cardboard infront of the radd maby one 3rd to one half of it. also check under the dash to see if the flaps in the heater /fan box move when u move the selector knobs HOPE THIS HELPD A BIT THANXX!!

Hi,i have a 2004 hyundai accent.i noticed recently that when i drive on the free way with overdrive off, the car starts to get hot.it seems normal and i cant seem to have clue why this would happen.all...

When overdrive is off, your engine works harder to keep up the freeway speed. It could spin an extra 800 to 1200 rpm just to stay at the same speed as when od is on. This generates alot of heat. If you have one of the smaller engines it may just be your engine is working that hard. Or it may be you thermostat is goin out. When a thermostat goes bad it starts to open and close less when it gets hot, until it stops opening at all. This is when an engine overheats. If yours is starting to go, you may only notice it when od is off, and you are going down the freeway, because your engine is working so much harder at that time, than any other time you are driving it.

Heater not working

if you got heat when its running and almost nothing iddling the heater core inside the car has rectriction idle circulation not enough prestone pass thrue the radiator because of scale when our driving way more circulation more prestone go thrue ¸=more heat you need to flush the radiator inside the car normally i put a radiator flush leave it running longer then what they say go for a drive remove the heater core hose be carefull not to break the pipe use garden hose pass hose water pressure o n both side do it a few time each side flush all the prestone add new prestone you shoul have way more heat good luck p.s some shop might tell you change the heater core that perfect but very big money do it right its cheap and gonna work pierre
