Question about 2004 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

To me it acts like there is a problem with the fuel system. It runs okay for a little bit then it starts chugging and then it runs okay again.

first thing to try is the fuel filter, if its partly blocked some fuel will pass allowing for some speed, but after more fuel is needed it cant pass fast enough so your car will chug or act like its cutting out, my 94 explorer would run fine up to 35mph, but after that it acted like it didnt have power and even died a few times i changed the fuel filter and the issue went away AGCO Automotive Repair Service Baton Rouge LA Detailed Auto Topics What...

Check or replace all your fuel filters. Check for water in your fuel. Drain your tank and replace with 93 octane fuel. Also check your spark plugs.

it may be the problem is in the fuel system. if it loosing power in idle means air trapped on the system. need to check filter, old filter must be replace, and the fuel line for leaks, need to be fix. then prime the system.

The 2003 rendezvous just "chugged" off then would

If it was otherwise running OK up to this point, and just suddenly died, it's probably fuel delivery system related.

Start by checking cranking fuel pump pressure. If no (or very low) reading, consider replacing fuel filter. Then check again for fuel pressure. If readings uncharged from initial check, you may have a failed fuel pump.

Could be a lot of different things, but space doesn't permit listing all.

In my opinion, this is a logical place to start looking.
