There is a bolt that you use to tighten the tension on one of the wheels you need to have 2 wrenchs to do the job.

Did you pry the belt tension pulley over so the belt has room to fit? Are you sure it's the right belt? These are the only two things I can think of for why it's not fitting.

How do you get the serpentine belt back onto a 1999 lincoln continental? we can't figure out how to put slack in the belt to get it back on the alternator.

there is a belt tensioner pulley you must lever back to produce the slack needed to slip on the belt. There is a socket type cutout behind the pulley. put in the appropriate size ratchet handle or breaker bar and move tensioner arm back against the spring tension on the pulley. slip on belt making sure the grooves of the belt are in the pulleys correctly

1997 saturn serpentine belt came loose. Don't know why.

if the belt is loose, the tensioner is not doing its job. common problem especially after 10 years. these are sold at parts stores for about 50 bucks. jack up right front, put on stand and pull wheel off. open service port in plastic wheel well liner. there it sits. there is a little map on the radiator support showing how the belt is routed and where you put the long wrench to loosen the tensioner. loosen the tensioner, take off the belt, take out the two bolts, pull the tensioner out, put the new one on and bolt in, put the belt back on, have a confederate put the belt over the tensioner while you hold it back with the long wrench. put the plastic port back on, put the wheel on, lower the car and drive.
a caveman could do it. confused? search on on youtube for same thing and watch someone else do it.

How do i change a fan belt on a 1994 pontiac grand am v-6

To remove the belt, put a 1/2" drive breaker bar into the receiver on the tensioner and push the bar so it moves the tensioner counter clockwise. Remove the belt and put the new one back on following the diagram on the sticker on the car. If no sticker, before removal, draw yourself one. When putting the belt back on, get everything positioned correctly and again push the bar in the same direction as you did to remove and put the belt back on the tensioner pulley. Check that all pulleys are engaged with the belt properly, start the car and watch the belt for a few minutes checking that no pulleys are wobbling etc. and that belt is running true.

The air con belt keeps coming off my BMW X3, how can i put it back on again?

If your belt keeps coming off, you either have a pulley out of alignment, bad belt tensioner, or a combination of the two. I would first verify that your belt tensioner is till good and then put the belt back on and visually check the alignment. You should be able to take a 3/8 ratchet and pull your tensioner back, allowing enouch slack in the belt, that you can route it back on the pulleys. I'm assuming it has a serpentine belt?

The main belt feel off my 93 saturn SC1

To put a serpentine belt back on your car, you should jack the right side up, and remove the tire first. Remove the plastic cover behind that to gain access to the side of the motor with the pulleys on it. On the side of the motor you will see down low the belt tensioner pulley witch swivels with the use of a wrench, i think it is a 14 or 15 mm wrench which is needed. Put the belt around all the other pulleys in the format they go by the picture under the hood, saving the last part of the belt to go the tensioner.Swivel the tensioner and but the belt over it, and put everything back on in reverse order.
