Question about 2003 Mazda Mazda6

1 Answer

I've just had spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, brake pads changed on y Mazda6 1.8 petrol 2002 model. since then i have no pwer when i go into the 3rd or 4 th gear. and up hill?? its a no no. it never had this problem before. took the car back to the mechanic and he reckond that i'v been sold dodgy spark plugs. i got him to take these out and put the old ones back in the car to verify this but the problem is still there. so i'm guessing its not the spark plugs. what can be causing it? please advise before i take it to main dealers who are likely to charge me a bomb for what might be a simple fix. thanks

I'll bet the guy pulled on the plug wires when he disconnected them from plugs., you may have a broken core in 1-2 or more wires.. This would require replaceing the wires and / or distributor cap. Does it idle ok? Or shake at idle.. ?
Ask the guy if he took the distributor cap off..
(Dodgy spark plugs? Righttt.) You could check the air filter too,, don't know what he might have done wrong there, but you never know.. till you look. While you're at it, check the oil level and see if it looks clean on the stick,

It is barely possible that it's unrelated to anything just done, and its coincidental that it happenned now. So keep that in mind.

My volvo v70 has failed the french mot test due to high emissions ; the cat con is only 2 years old ; what is the best way to approach this prob

CHANGE THE OIL TO TOP QUALITY OIL THEN CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS TO BETTER SPARK MOST PROBABLY IRIDIUM THEN CHANGE THE AIR FILTER TO A BMG AIR FILTER (THIS AIR FILTER DOESNT EVER NEED CHANGING) THEN FILL THE PETROL (IF IT NOT DIESEL) WITH HIGH OCTANE (98ron) AND ADD RACING OCTANE BOOST TO THE PETROL TANK AND THAT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND YOUR CAR WILL GO A HELL OF ALOT BETTER YOULL SAVE ON FUEL ALSO THE IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS DONT HAVE TO BE CHANGED FOR AT LEAST 100.000KLM HOPFULLY THE PETROL AND MORE AIR GOING IN WILL HELP

Every 10,000 miles partial service; change engine oil and filter, air and fuel filter's, spark plug's and check brakes fluid pipes and pad's. Every 50,000 full service. partial service plus change cambelt, check gear diff and power steering oils. Owners manual or any mechanic will let you know oil grades etc.

Whats included in a 120k maintance

This almost always if different depending on the shop you take you car to. The best way is to look in your owners manual, pick your diving conditions, normal or extended use, and see what Mistubishi recommends. Should be at least, oil change, rotate, brake inspection, air filter, spark plugs, plug wire set, timing belt. On a Mits with over 100k miles I always recommended Distbutor cap and rotor, Transmission flush(for auto), Induction flush.
