REPAIRING THE FAULT CODE P0302 BUT LACK OF INFO. NEED INJECTION WIRE DIAGRAMS. PLEASE!

You need to tell me what engine were talking about there all differant and have differant wireing diagrams. But i can tell you this p0302 is a misfire on # two cylinder and it dosen't have anything to do with your fuel injection its a sensor problem

    Whow this is three months old . You say you have a 2 liter and you have a general misfire and you have 1 and 2 cylinder codes . I would check the fuel filter first thing make sure you are getting enough fuel to the engine . If that checks out then i would tend to suspect the crank pisition sensor even though you are not showing the code sometimes they are intermitent . Although it could be some other things like wires or cap or cam shaft pisition sensor or computer related or even a bad connection at a connector . But the most likely things are the fuel or the crank sensor . In general how dose the vehicle run this will be your biggest clue if its for the most part OK then check these two things

Why can't I get rid of P0302


P0302- Fault Cylinder B-Misfire Detected (CYL2)
Not sure what happened to my computer as I write this but it went crazy as well. Now back to the subject. Some of the new fuel injection is causing problems the way they put fuel in the cyl. by putting it in the cyl. over the valve instead of under the valve. This will leave a carbon deposit on the valve and not allow the valve to fully close and thus cause the misfire code to be set. I just went through this with a v/6 3800 cid I had. You will need to run a valve cleaner through it to remove the carbon and then reset the ecm and drive the car about 50 mile and cycle the ecm and then see if the fault comes back on. Hope this helps.

What is the result if the fuel injection is early


Incomplete combustion. Lack of power. Timing is is determined by the PCM. You cannot create an early fuel injection. Why are you considering this?

Code pulled says secondary intake. what is that?


Do you mean "Secondary Air Injection"? When asking for help with problems like this, it is helpful to include vital information like ENGINE SIZE. Also, you need to include the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). That way, someone trying to help you will not be "guessing" trying to figure out what you need help with.
For instance if you are getting a coded for your secondary air injection system like DTC "P0410" , We can go to the troubleshooting charts for that code and get information on that code. Also, there may be Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that are published by the vehicle manufacturer that can simplify the task of identifying and repairing known problems with certain vehicles. An example of this is that the manufacturer (General Motors) has published a TSB for DTC P0410. There is a known problem with water getting into the pump and causing the pump to fail. The TSB prescribes a fix which involves replacing the secondary air injection pump and re-routing the intake filter for the pump so that water can no longer get into the pump.

This type of information cannot be provided to you if we do not know what engine we are working on or what code you are getting from your computer.

Also, it should be noted here that all OBD codes have a "generic description" of the fault, but OBD codes NEVER tell you what parts need to be replaced. The fault codes only tell you which of the many systems monitored by the computer is failing to operate within its designed operating range or conditions.

Code p0302


Look at the wire and plug to cylinder 2, for cracks or damage, if nothing is found run a compression test need 100psi min, and then check the injector, you need to meshure resistance with a multimeter, and compare to other injectors something like 12 to 15 ohms would be good i think.

Missfire in cylinder 2


I assume you know the problem is a misfire in #2 cylinder from checking the diagnostics code. Although these codes can be helpful in narrowing down a problem they lack specific details. In the case there are several possible items that could trigger the engine fault code P0302

These include:
  • Faulty spark plug or wire
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Running out of fuel
  • Poor compression
  • Defective computer
Before you spend any money to resolve this you need to narrow this list down even more. Start by pulling the plug. Do a image web search on "spark plug diagnosis". This will give you pictures of plugs with a variety of problems to compare with yours and give you an indication whether or not the plugs need replacing. Next if possible switch #2 plug wire with another. Make sure you switch both ends (coil end and spark plug end) of the spark plug wire.
These are the no or low cost options. Beyond these you will need to start replacing items like the Ignition Coil and O2 sensor.
If you are still having the problem after checking and/or replacing the items listed above, your next step is a compression test on #2 cylinder.
If you get to this point please repost here with the results with the wires and plugs and I will give you the steps to follow with compression testing.

Rebuilding injection pump


What you are looking for does not exist outside Stanadyne. The GM service manual refers their own mechanics to send the pumps out for anything other than basic adjustments. Even the Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part no. 10330, gives no info on rebuilding or repairing these. They tell you to send it out as well. You might check out The Diesel Page on the net and you may find someone who has done what you want to do and can talk you through it.Good luck.

Have a 03 pt cruiser with a trouble code P0302, stubbles bad and smells rich.


The P0302 Code points to a misfire detected on the # 2 cylinder. If its stumbling, I would first suspect the plug or wire is bad. I believe the ignition coil on that vehicle is a single coil pack with four terminals, so if only the P0302 code is coming up I would start with the plug and wire. May be time to do a tune up and just replace all the splugs and spark plug wires.

Also, Takeout #1(from front of the car on your left) and #2 and compare two plugs.
perheps #2 sparkplug is white(at contact point), Than you are in deep troble(head gasket problem, white smoke comes out of tailpipe) like I have.
