As a Infiniti Service advisor for 5 years I can tell you a couple of things. First, check your gas cap. Make sure it is tightened past three clicks. The Service engine light only comes on because of emissions related issues. Generally if the gas cap is loose then vapors will seep out of the filler neck and the appropriate pressure inside the fuel cell will not be acheived and the computer will trip the light. If you had recently filled up before the light came on, then after the cap is tightened it may take a day or so to go off on its own. Other than that the next most common cause of the light is the O2 sensor(s). They normally do not completely fail but have hiccups so to speak. Their purpose is to measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas, and if one or more of the sensors measures too much or too little it will cause the light to trip. The computer will automatically adjust the air fuel mixture to compensate for these diffenciencies, so it is best to have it checked and cleared. I would highly recommend a tune up as they are generally needed to be done at 30K and 60K. They will change your plugs, air filter, fuel filter, clean your throttle chamber to remove buildup, and sometimes run a fuel system cleaning procedure. Since the Check Engine light issue is always an emissions related issue, there is no need to panic, and you will not do harm by driving with it on. I have had many a customer drive the car 100k plus miles with the light on. But eventually you will want to get it looked at.

Have you checked the trunk switch in the glove compartment to make sure it is on? Just a thought.
To remove the rear seats: there are two tabs for the rear seat bottom one on the left and one on the right, look at the front bottom of the seat cushion. Pull the tabs and lift up on the seat it should come out easily. Once the seat bottom is out you will have access to the mounting hardware for the seat back. Good Luck.

The procedure goes like this. First get in the car and lock all the doors. Secondly insert and remove the key repeatedly until the turn signal indicators on the dash flash twice simultaneously, it should be like seven or eight times. Then turn the key on and press the lock button on the remote and the lights should flash again. After that turn the key off and manually unlock and open the drivers door, then shut it. Wait a few seconds then try the remote.

have code read then replace problem component or fix problem, light goes out on its own, or disconect ground from battery for 30 seconds reattach, light will come back though if problem is not adressed
