Question about 1990 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Aloha, I have a 1990 Honda Accord, the fan used to come on after I turned the motor off. The fan no longer comes on. I have replaced the compressor fan assembly as it was totally non operational. If I turn on the air conditioner both fans will turn on. Otherwise, they are off. I did notice after replacing the compressor fan assembly that when the temp would get to a certin point the compressor fan would turn on, then turn off after a period of time. Have checked all fuzes, the two relays located in the fuze box under the hood, and tested the temperature sensors which all seem to be operational.

I suggest you have no need to worry about this. The conditions may not be right for the fan to "after run"

SOURCE: 2001 honda accord, air conditioner is not working,

one fan is for the a/c it will cycle on when the a/c is turned on the other fan should be linked to the temperature sensor. check your fuses if you haven't already. then check your temp sensor. i'm not sure on a honda but most newer cars have multiple sensors so you will have to find out which on is for the fan. also you need to find out if the fan is controled by a pcm as some new model cars have almost everything controled through the powertrain control module

CLICK HERE for your Blower Motor Circuit Diagram.

There are 2 fuses for your blower.
One Hot all times ( #35 under Hood 40A)
One Switched power (under dash fuse #9 7.5A)

If BOTH fuses check out good, there is a relay under the dash.
(Yellow with black stripe ) and (Black) wires coming out of it.

With the ignition on, and blower set on 1, verify power at Yellow with black wire at the blower.

If there is power, your blower moter has failed.

one is located over the battery, the other is located in the side of the dash.

First panel:
If you pop your hood the battery will be on your right sid in the front of the engine bay. There is a small rectangular piece on top of the battery with a lot of heavy guage red wires going to it. That is the engine bay fuse box.

Second panel:
if you open your driver side car door it's under neath a panel located inbetween the door and the dash board.

You will have to replace the fan sensor. If the fans are not working then the temperature will rise when stopped and cool down when running because of the air coming through he radiator.
A head gasket leak will show up by lose of water and bubbles in the radiator, with it topped up to the neck of the filler. Worst indication is water in the oil and out the exhaust.

Need to replace blower motor on 1990 honda accord ex

It's above the pass side floorboard, kind of behind the glove box, but lower. You'll need 8mm or 5/16" socket. Loosen the bolts, lower it and unplug it, pull it out. Don't throw it away, sometimes you have to keep your fan blade when you buy a new one. A junkyard will give you one with it still on...

1990 honda accord ac blower motor will not work

Check 7.5 fuse (#8) inside the car by your left foot and check the 30 amp fuse in the engine compartment (according to your diagram on the inside of your fuse box lid).

You can replace the fan motor pretty easy but you'll want to unplug it and test it first by running an automotive battery to the plugs of the fan with 2 jumper wires. The fan is above the right foot of the passenger area. There are three 8mm screws to remove then it drops out. Careful with the wiring.
If your fan is still good, you'll have to consider removing your knob and switch assembly to see if something is unplugged in there. Good luck.

2005 Honda accord-air conditioner not working good and car overheating

Your car probably has two fans at the radiator, one is for the coolant and the other is for the a/c condenser. Find out which one stays on after you turn off your car after a normal trip, this fan is good. Check the fan that did not run, you may have to connect 12v directly to the connector of the non working fan, if it won't run with a direct connection, the fan motor is bad, if the fan does run, then find the fan switch and test or replace it, you can find information on testing a the Autozone.com site.
