    hi from Yosemite Sam.

I would like to thank everyone who answered my problem.

I found the anwer on the internet, can't remember where.Let me say there is no chip in the key it's called a resistance pellet. What i had to do was bypass the security system. To do this i used a multimeter to find the ohms in the resistance pellet in the ignition key. Then i purchased a resistor of the same value for a dollar from a tv repair shop which is cheaper than radio shack or similar where you would have to buy a pack of

assorted (maybe 10 or 20) for 5 or 10 bucks. Then underneath the dash along the steering column was an orange wire which i cut and inside was two smaller white wires which i cut and bared back. Then i joined these wires to each end of the resistor with the ignition on and the car started as soon as i turned the key. This method can only be used if the security light is flashing when the ignition is on.If it's steady you can't.Hope this explanation is clear enough.

Look at your key is it bent? if so that could be the problem being there is a security chip in the key. also i had the same problem and it was the security light. i had to take it to GM and they reset the light and it was fine.

If there is an active code stored in the ecm than a diagnotic scan will reveal the problem. a quick trip to a shop will help with this

2004 Pontiac grand prix gtp won't start- fully

You need a new starter solenoid. It is essentially a heavy duty remote switch that is activated by your ignition key switch. The solenoids get stuck or don't conduct well after 6 to10 years.

Starts and runs 3-5 seconds and shuts down

Sounds like your security system is shutting the car down. You should be able to leave the key on for 15 minutes and it will reset itself. Make sure you are using factory keys, and they are in good condition.

Fuel smell on start-up, 94 Grand Prix

Remove the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and have some one turn the key on if it leaks gas out its bad this will explain the smell. Also does it have a hard time starting when it sits for awhile ?

Start

Typically on the cars they have a chip on the outside of the key and it will get caroaded over time try getting a new key and see if that works. its a comon problem on grand prix or any cars that would have keys like that.
