Sounds like you may have a bad battery. try and jump start the car and see if it will start then.
if it still will not start with good fresh voltage then I would say that the starter solenoid could be at fault. but 9 times out of 10 it is a bad battery.

1995 Ford Escort Wagon, turn on the key NOTHING happens. No click no dash lights no start.

Buy your battery there is a master fuse link that burns out to protect the systems. It is a smaller section of wire Lighter gauge that burns and separates. feel for it and look for bubbled wire coating.

this could be your problem and is a simple fix. Mike

Why doesn't it crank?

What do you mean by no crank ? When you turn the key to the start position nothing Happens or the engine cranks but doesn't start an run ? You mite or mite not know that people refer to crank over as starting an running . If when you turn you key to the start position an nothing happens there is a relay in the underhood fuse box .Another thing , you replaced a fuse or the whole fuse box . Starter relay # 47 Do you know about relays ? how they work , power side an control side . The engine computer energizes the relay if no anti-theft system etc... You can go to free wiring diagrams an see what all is involved ! Once you click on link enter your vehicle info an under system click on engine an then under subsystem click on starting system . You can also go to youtube an check out videos on relays , basic electrical trouble shooting , voltage drop testing .Because testing is the only way to find out what the problem is . You should have it check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes as well !

2013 Hyundai Elanta will not start, turn key , new battery, nothing, all lights n dash work, could it be the alarm system OEM

If you have a second key, try that one. Sometimes 1 key will unlock, 1 key will start. If not it would be the anti theft or security system disabling the ignition module. Which is why it won't even try to turn over.

My 1999 volvo s80 won't start. turn the key and nothing happens. there is no clicking, no cranking, nothing. someone suggested that the security system is the problem. we have never intentionally used...

On your year there would be something , like cranking , if the security is set. I would start with checking the fuses and then work my way to the starter relay. then I would go to the starter.

Battery is good, all lights & accesories work fine but when I try to start the engine, nothing happens. No "clicking" of the starter, absolutely nothing. Any ideas?

possibly the safety interlock or security system.
