Question about 2003 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent, 2 dr. Took it to the mechanic to find out that there was no thermostat in the car, so he put in a generic one. When I picked up the car, the A/C didn't work anymore... and it did before! So I did a little troubleshooting. The fuses are all ok. The compressor is all hooked up. However, the fans are NOT working. So I messed with the A/C controls, and viola! when I put it on the Defrost setting, fans come on and A/C works. When I switch it to floor fan or face fan or both... hot air. Fans shut off. Seems strange to me. Any ideas?

The A/C button is ON. I'm talking about the dial that directs where the air blows... feet, face, defrost, etc. When I turn it to blow on my face or feet, the fan shuts off and there's no A/C. When I turn it back to defrost, the A/C and fans work!!

The a/c system is designed to cycle on and off when in the defrost mode. This helps pull moisture out of the air to help clear your windows

How to check for lose fuel pressure hyundai accent 2002

A mechanic would use a fuel pressure gauge, you could spray starting fluid or carb cleaner into the throttle body to see if it will start on that.
Also check for spark at the plugs.

Thermostat replacement

HI there,

Well first of all you may please follow the steps below -

1. Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat intake tube by loosening the retaining clip with a screwdriver. Slide the clip toward the radiator and pull the hose off the thermostat intake tube. 2. Remove the two 10-mm bolts that hold the thermostat intake tube onto the intake manifold of the Hyundai Accent. Pull the intake tube off the intake manifold and inspect it for cracks. If any cracks are present, then you need a new thermostat intake tube.
3. Pull the old thermostat and thermostat gasket off the engine with your hands and replace them both with new ones. The thermostat will be marked with "top." This end should stick out of the engine. 4. Place the thermostat intake tube back onto the intake manifold of the Hyundai Accent and bolt it back into place. 5. Slide the radiator hose back on to the thermostat intake tube and secure it in place with the retaining clip. A band clamp can be used in place of the retaining clip for extra clamping pressure. AC works, Heater not working, 2003 Hyundai Accent.

Check the coolant level, do this with a cold engine. Or if you have recently used it. let it cool down for about 25 minutes before removing the radiator cap. if it is low, refill with coolant. If it does not, check your thermostat. Or better yet replace your thermostat. Be sure to get the right one . the same degrees as your old one. Just ask the teller to give you one for your engine size and car Model. And year.See where the radiator cap is. Then drain some coolant to where it will not spill from the radiator cap. Remove the hose nearest the radiator cap and you will get to the thermostat housing. Remove the housing and note how the thermostat is placed. Take of the thermostat housing and the old thermostat. Clean the housing and around the hole where the thermostat goes of any deposits. Get some grease and cover the new gasket with grease on the housing to hold it in place. replace the New thermostat and make sure it is flush with the engine and the housing. If it is off , you could break the housing upon tightening the housing.replace the hose and refill with coolant slowly to eliminate any air spaces.. Also check the coolant reservoir and fill it to the indicator line. Restart the car and chek for any leaks. Then check the heater after the engine heats up. If that does not do the job it could be the temperature sensor or the heater core. The heater core will take more time to check and clean or replace.
