Question about Chevrolet S 10

Open Question

I have a Hypertech power programmer 3. I have used to install some performance programs into my 2003 chevy S10 4.3 pickup. My check engine light has just come on , telling me it has kicked a code. I plugged in the programmer to read the code and the programmer does nothing. No power light, no status light, nothing on the screen. It seems like the programmer has died or it has no power to it. I have checked all connections and turned on the key, still nothing. I have access to a reader, but I am affraid that my program is still installed and may cause damage. Can I get away with using the other code reader [with program still installed] and what should I do to with my Hypertech programmer, send it back to hypertech for warranty fix ? Please help me, I can get no answers from Hypertech due to being closed for the holidays. Thank you.

SOURCE: newly purchased hypertech programmer reads

if your trying to use it on a 1996 vehicle, then the attari computer controlling your engine isn't reprogrammable, i found the same problem with my 1996 f150, however if you are a true race enthusiast and want the ability to change your vehicles programing at will then you need a newer computer already programed with your engines defaults, this is tricky business, because if you dont know what your doing, then you will be stuck with a dead ride and a really expensive cost, also if the defaults in fuel, timming, and other needs arent within spec you'll ruin your engine over the long term

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If the obd reader is not updated, that's the reason why it doesn't show codes. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you update the obd II scanner then go for the procedure. This can help.

If the codes won't disappear, then the parts concerned will surely need replacement to resolve the issue.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Obd code C0502 on 97 chevy k1500

CO502 is a Vehicle Speed Sensor Code. I'm working on trying to resolve an issue with my own right now. I know I had some wiring issues a while back with the VSS and thought I had it all resolved. I didn't know that I still had an issue until I was installing my Hypertech Max Energy Power Programmer today when it gave me this code.

2003 Chevy 2500HD 8.1 Allison 4x4. Truck runs 100% fine. Each day when started MIL comes on codes P0700 and P1779 are present. I know what they stand for but have no idea how to fix. If codes are cleared...

I have the same exact truck as you do and had a similar problem awhile ago when i installed the hypertech system. I had to uninstall the hypertech and then have a buddy (cause i did not know how) drain the residual power from the brain... apparenlty the brain houses a small amount of power and remembers these codes so after you turn off your truck...poof there they are again. This worked for me, but then I had other electrical problems so I the dealership had to replace the brain.

Would like to power chip my 2000 f150 4.6 how?

You could chip it. but that would mean performing sergery on your thousand plus daller computer. I would suggest investing in a hypertech programer their are others on the market but hypertech is what i used on my 2000 silverado and it has pleanty of power now. You should fined one at summitracing.com. Their really simple to use. You just plug it into the obd2 port under the drivers side dash and answer yes and no questions. I would keep the transmission setings stock and let the program due its thing on the motor. After you program the truck let it sit and run for a good 15 minutes the start and stop the motor a few times to let the motor get use to the new program before u put it under load. I hope the suggestion help.
