Question about 1998 Suzuki Swift

Open Question

Hi, I have a Suzuki Alto 1998 with an HA11 F6A motor. The motor was running rough and would stall at standstill (while waiting for lights etc), then ran very rough and died. After a few minutes it started again, then idled very high and got really hot, so I stopped and it had no water. After cooling if off, I put some water in the Radiator, but it was pouring out the bottom just as fast. There appears to be no drainage plug in the bottom of the radiator, but not sure if this is supposed to be a vacant hole. Not sure where the water is leaking from if not from this. thanks.

SOURCE: my suzuki carry f6a wont idel

Before doing anything else . Check the idle air control valve. It is located at the hole in the fuel system side. It can be removed and cleaned. Or spray cleaned using carb cleaner. After removing the air duct work. With the engine on and running at 1200 rpms or so, spray cleaner directly at some holes in the sides of the hole going to the fuel system. turn off engine and let the cleaner soak into the valve.Repeat process. If that is not the problem. it may be the Idle position sensor, (IPS) it is located near the fuel systen with a plug of a few wires. remove the plug and replace the sensor.

SOURCE: Recurring Mystery Problem in a 1986 Suzuki Alto. (Idle related)

Bad fuel, water in the fuel, dirt in the fuel.

Drain the fuel tank completely.

Pour in a gallon or two of fresh fuel.

See how it goes.

Put some of the old fuel in a glass bottle, hold it up in front of a light and see if you can see any foreign material in it...
