Question about 1994 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Front power seat. when using control to move seat the right side will not move. the left side will which puts everything into a bind. cannot see if anything is caught in rail, doesn't look like it. motor is fine, and the drive axle works ok when removed from the gear head which operates the worm gear that moves seat forward and back.

I pulled the front pins which allowed me to tilt the seat back to give me better access to the problem area, the worm gear tries to move the seat forward and back maybe 1/2" before starting to bind, there must be a gear that turns the worm gear shaft, that is where I suspection the problem is I wasn't able to figure out how to pull that gear assembly apart, the drive shaft from the motor pulls right out and it looks good and turns when the switch is activated, the seat is in the farthest back position if that helps which is ok for me but my wife is short and unable to reach the pedals, I don't have time to play taxi driver so would appreciate any help you can give. This is my 1st time asking for online help on anything, skeptical if I get any answers at first but thought I'd try it out appreciate it if you can give me some pointers.

    Thanks Ken

    may cause the outboard pivot

    bracket to also separate.

    NOTE:

Owners of involved vehicles will be instructed to make an
    appointment with their

dealer only if they experience one of these conditions with
    their driver's seat adjuster.

    (See owner letter for details.)

Why is it the left side of my drivers power seat will not move but the right side does?

Don't know what vehicle you have, but some vehicles, if you remove the outside side panel at the bottom of the seat, up near the front of the seat, looking at it from the outside, is a small bolt, if you put a socket on this bolt & turn it one way or the other your seat should move forward or back, just move it a little at a time in one direction or the other, then try your power switch, sometimes the seat goes back to far & is out of range for the motor. the other could be a bad motor.

you would have to disconnect the motor drive but it isnt like the old days where there were grooves to put the adjuster into, the motor shaft holds the position.

I have a 2005 ford expedition and the driver side power seat will only move forward on the left side the right side seems stuck. please help

There is either something wedged in the track causing the right side to bind, or the screw yoke is stripped/seized. I have dealt with this problem in the past and the only thing I could do was to find a seat base at a wrecking yard and swap the seat base frame. Or buy a brand new one. If you pull the seat out and inspect the rail, you might be able to fix it, but I would start looking for a used seat base as well.

I hope this info helps!

Driver's seat unable to move forward or backward

There are plastic gears connecting the track to the seat assembly. Whne one of these strip the seat will only work or move to one side. Infiniti does not sell a simple fix. You are looking at buying an entire seat assembly complete with the module for all the electronics. It will be at a cost of around $950 - $1000. Once that is in, Infiniti must program the seat to the brain of the car, only then can you reset your memory settings.
