Question about 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

I made the mistake of pulling the spark plug wires off of the cap and now I do not know how to re install. 1967 olds 330 cu v8. I selected 1983 in the driop down as you did not have the 67 listed.

I don't know your year--make--model? You should be able to remove dist cap, crank the engine, watch which way the rotor turns, then you know the direction of rotation. Most chevy rwd v8, firing order, 18436572. The driver side bank is odd numbered, 1357.
The passenger side bank is even numbered, 2468 from front to back. Put your number one piston on tdc of compression stroke. Then whichever spark plug tower the rotor is leading into, should be number one, then you follow the firing order around the cap.

No spark at plugs


Do you mean you get spark from coil high tension wire to dizzy cap? If so, the only thing left is the cap and rotor and wires and the engine must have a good ground.

Where do wires go from coil pack to distributor cap and where else 1990 chevytruck 350


coil HT lead to centre contact on dist cap ,the remaining HT leads go to the spark plugs you will need the firing order to get them on the correct plug follow this link may have to research site for your year vehicle

'67 Beetles did not have stock fuel-injected systems. Misfires might be related to spark plug wires either being cracked (if they're old) or being out of order from the distributor cap to the spark plugs. If you have taken off the distributor cap or someone else has done it recently, that may be the source of the misfiring.

it is in the front of one of the heads or on the block i think it is the left side just above the oil pan or it is on the back of the heads

1983 f150 351w distributor cap placement


I assume its a V8 and probably a 5.0L

5.0= 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order

5.0 HO and 351 Windsor share 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order

Cylinder numbering:

When looking into the engine bay the number one cylinder should be on your left hand side (left bank) at the front of the engine. The number eight cylinder is on the rear right (right bank) up against the firewall.

I was driving down the road and the truck just died. it will turnover but it wont crank. i have a 83 ford f150 4 wheel drive 302 v8.


check and see if is getting any spark out of the #1spark plug wire .if not change out your distributor cap ,rotor button and spark plugs wires ,and plugs

Here is a firing order diagram for your "Jetfire Rocket" engine, and you will not find this diagram out there because I just made it to help assist you using the Windows "Paint" program and a firing order diagram from an ancient 1964-1971 Chilton Manual.

I have a 1972 Jeep CJ5, 304 V8 somebody decided to take my distributor. I have a replacement but don't know how to install from scratch wires and all. When they say rotor should point towards #1 cylinder...


Hi:
What they mean is that the rotor should point towards the spot on the distributor cap that the #1 spark plug wire attaches to.

So the basic process is this:

It is easiest to do with all your spark plugs out, but at least remove the #1 spark plug. rotate the engine till the #1 piston is fully up on the compression stroke( TDC or top dead center) and verify the timing mark on your crankshaft pulley is where it should be. Then install the distributor with the rotor pointing to where the #1 spark plug wire hooks up to the cap. This will get you close to the final spot, and that will work for you. Just be carefull not to get it off one tooth on the distributor gear, as you might still think it is close, but the distributor will have to be rotated to the extreme adjustment to get the timing close.

Where are the spark plugs on a 2001 Dodge Dakota 4.7L V8 ?


EACH PLUG HAS ITS OWN COIL ITS HELD IN BY A # 11 OR 12 METRIC NUT ON TOP OF EACH CYL. BETWEEN EACH INTAKE RUNNER , EACH ONE HAS A ELCT. PLUG TO THEM UNHOOK THE PLUG AND REMOVE THE HOLD DROWN NUT AND PULL OUT THE WHOLE TUBE THAT GOES DOWN TO THE SPARK PLUG. YOU MAY HAVE TO TAKE OFF THE PLASTIC COVER ON TOP OF THE PLEMTEM WITCH IS HELD ON BY SNAPS, JUST GRAB ON TO IT AND PULL AND IT WILL COME OFF.
