I did mine last year and used the siphon method with one of those pumps you can buy to fill kerosene heaters. I put another length of hose on it so it would reach through the filler neck into the tank. The advantage of the kerosene pump is that you can easily shut it off and start it again without getting a mouthful og gas or diesel. Hope this helps.

There isn't really an easy way other than carefully lowering the tank with a jack and once it is out you can just change out the pump without empting it or a nother way is to go through the bed floor isn't really recomended but I have done this befor just rember not to use anything that sparks to cut the bed floor I used a air chisel and then repair the hole with some fiberglassand resin

You could siphon it out using a pump through the fuel filler neck.

Fuel gauge faulty

The fuel sender is part of the fuel pump mounted on top of the fuel tank. There might be an access ti the top of the fuel tank through a removable access panel under the rear seat. Otherwise you need to remove the fuel tank. New unit will cost a lot

I just had my fuel pump replaced and now my fuel gauge is way off. I can't tell when I'm on empty, I know it's somewhere between the half tank mark and full, but I don't know. I need to...

Whoever replaced your fuel pump, damaged the the fuel level sender when they did the pump repair. The fuel level sender is attached to the same assembly that the pump is mounted in. You will need to have the shop that did the repair, remove the the gas tank again and repair the sender or replace the entire sender/pump assembly.

How to replace fuel pump

Empty fuel tank, support fuel tank, remove straps from tank (you'll probably have to replace those). Remove fuel filler neck from inside fuel door or at tank, drop tank, remove wire clips and fuel lines as necessary, remove fuel pump, put new pump in. Installation is reverse.

Fuel pump replacement procedure

Did you check the fuel pump relay switch? (behind R-headlight, from radiator, 3rd over [3.1 V6])
They have caused many unnecessary pump replacements.

As for the pump; You will need to drop the tank, but emptying it isn't required.
First: Disconnect the battery.

There are 2 straps holding the tank to the vehicle, and once out you'll pull the sending unit at the top of the tank.
* Remove the electrical connections before opening the fuel lines...redundant, I know...but safe.

Should the weight of a full tank be an issue, a cheap hand-pump from Autozone will connect to the primary fuel line in order to transfer the fuel to containers (or another vehicle).

it is just a matter of unscrewing the cover in the trunk, removing the wires, then unscrewing the pump cover.make sure the fuel tank is not empty as an empty tank is highly explosive.
