My Dodge Caravan 1999 just reached 100000 miles on it. Should I do a tune-up to it? when? or what other maintenance should I do to the vehicle and when?

Thank you for your advise. I need to check up the liter engine of the van, but if it needs a replacement of the timing belt, do you know if by taking the vehicle to a mechanic will it be expensive to do it? how long does it takes?

If you have the 2.4 or 3.0 liter engine, the timing belt NEEDS to be replaced if it has not been done before. 3.3 or 3.8 liter utilizes a timing chain and does not require servicing. The fuel filter and air filter are the most common to be replaced about every 20 - 30,000 miles. The spark plugs should be replaced every 60,000 and use NGK or Nippon Denso plugs. Let me know if you need anything else.

It sould only take a day to complete (drop off in the morning, pick up at close) and run about $6-700. Sometimes you can find deals, but always get a technician you can trust and offer a warranty.

Is a 1999 dodge caravan worth $300 if it needs tranny at 95000 miles?

I'd say yes. Including the cost of a transmission it could be operational for under 1500 dollars. I kept up on the '98 I bought for my wife with regular maintenance and it finally died at over 300,000 miles. Most newer Chryslers have a 100,000 mile warranty, so theoretically it could have still been under warranty. Please rate my solution, and leave a testimonial.

1999 Dodge Grand Caravan, 138000 miles. Loud vibration coming from rear at 40+ miles?

This particular vehicle is front wheel drive and there isn't much on the rear axle, so one thing could be the rear wheels need to be balanced or you have a bent rim. Good Luck.

I bought an used Dodge Caravan 2000. It has 93000 miles. What maintenance should I do?

Hi, if the prior owners kept to the maintenance schedule then at 90K your Caravan should of had its major things done, mainly the spark plugs and tune up items. At 97K Dodge just wants normal things inspected fluids belts ect. oil change and rotate tires. At 100K they want the cooling system flushed. If the previous owner did not supply you with the maintenance history I would recommend having it inspected to see if the spark plugs were done and if not do them and the cooling system serviced. This will give your mechanic a sound starting place to keep you running fine. Hope this helps and happy motoring

How often do i need to get a tune up and what parts do i need to buy for the tune up?

once or twice a year is good for an actual tune up which is new fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, & antifreeze.
About every other year, you should replace tranny fluid and filter. Not bad idea to have coolant and tranny flushed every 2-3 years too.

Maintenance question!!

A good free web site for maintenance and parts is You can enter your vehicle information and sign up. You'll be able to look up part numbers, view maintenance schedules, fluid specifications and so on.
Check it out, I believe you will find it handy.
If you want a more "in depth" repair web site, you can go to There is a yearly fee for each vehicle you register on this web site.
Good luck.
