Well some of these cables either stretch, or the latch mecanism gets worn and resty, I would look into the front of the grill and see if you can see the cable, and if not lay down on your back just undr the front and reach up into the area with a flat head screwdriver and slide the latch over to release the hood, and you can lube the heck out of it then. ohh and in some cases on fords the harder you pull the easier the release. you may have to replace the cable if it is un ravled.
