The auto parts stores sell a special socket just for removing O2 sensors. They have a slot cut into the side the full length of the socket which allows the wire harness to be pulled into the socket instead of being trapped under it. If there is enough room, you could also use an open end wrench of the appropriate size. Be sure to let the exhaust cool completely before attempting to remove the sensor. They are usually very tight and any heat will just make them tighter. The new O2 sensor should have the connector at he end of the wire harness. Some sensors come with connectors that have to be spiced into the wire harness. Avoid those.

No special tools are needed, just use a open end wrench or adjustable wrench.

Tip

Where is O2 oxygen sensor Bank 1 sensor 2 on Pontiac Atzec.

Hi.

The sensor two is the one located after the catalytic converter. While sensor one is always the O2 sensor located on the engine side.

Bankone refer to the sensor located in line with cylinder number one (theone that is sparking first i order). The firing order on Pontiac Atzec is as follows:

on the 4 Cylinder engine : 1-3-4-2

on the 6 Cylider version : 1-6-5-4-3-2,

This means that the cylindernumber one is located on the left hand side.

See the diagram below explaining how to access sensor two. The protective cover is not present on all models:

Note: before replacing the O2 sensor (lambda sensor) ensure that the problem is not wiring or connector.

Replaced cam sensor, oxygen sensor, egr vavle, when normal operating temp vehicle dies at stop signs and has jerking and sputtering when accelerating

If these symptoms only start after vehicle warms up, possible coolant temperature sensor. I would suggest having the sensor data scanned by a shop to monitor sensor operation to see if one is out of range before replacing any unecessary parts.

AWD Disable light on 2001 Pontiac Aztec- how do I get if off?

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

(i use the jack that comes with the car i find it easier) unbolt 1st strap lower the tank down there should be enough clearance to lower half of the tank down without droping the entire thing

Had body control module replaced on 2001 pontiac aztek now the check engine light is on constant. codes indicate it could be a map sensor or an oxygen sensor is there a testing method for these and how do...

There are ways to test anything on any vehicle

That can only be done with knowledge, scan tools,
oscilloscopes,& vehicle reference material, such as
Alldata or you having all the factory service manuals

You can not work on todays vehicles by changing
parts, without doing any testing

Is the oxygen sensor simple to change out in my 2001 aztec

well that's kinda a tricky question because it is just 1 electric plug and unscrew it but sometimes its not because the heat makes it seize in place and you need the special socket with a **** for the wire to get enuf torque on it without stripping the head. Its kinda like a bigger spark plug that you cant take the wire off when removing it. good luck hope that's a little help

If it's not your computer, you may need to change your sensors. Some vehicles have 1 to 5 sensors. Some have more!
