SOURCE: i have a 2005 maxima with a bad ABS actuator.

on my 1995 ford taurus i removed the fuse for the abs motor/pump over 2 years ago and have been driven it with no problems since.ive been a mechanic for over 20 years and most if not all cars are designed to operate on the basic brake system if the abs brakes shut off because of a problem.once you find and remove the fuse(there could be more than one)for the abs the abs lite will stay ON all the time.hope this helps you.

Got '05 Silverado LT 5.3 ABS issue changed both front hub units then ABS pinged MIL. Coming to stop calipers now pulsate:growl. Brakes do work, i have ABS replacement cable w/ABS-1, D printed on it are...

The cables are universal but normally go by length of cable if the lengths are different. When the hubs were replaced, did the hubs get replaced with the ones that are for ABS? the ones for abs will have a ring of teeth so the sensor can read the hub speed.

How can I disable the abs brakes on a 2006 Nissan maxima

I do not have any first hand experience with the Nissan Maxima but have pulled a 60 amp fuse in the box under the hood on Chevy trucks. Here is what I found on the web which may be helpful to you. First the link and then the text:

The problem is corrosion in the rear hubs is causing the sensors to be pushed out of alignment with the sensor ring. DO NOT continue to drive the car with this problem. It will burn out the abs controller. That part costs $1300.00. First thing you should do is open the hood of the vehicle and follow the wire for the right front abs sensor. You will see a plug above where the motor mount connects to the passenger inner fender area. Unplug that connector. It will disable the abs system so the pump will stop running.

If you are mechanically inclined you could repair this. The rear hubs need to be removed and cleaned. Also the plastic cap behind the hub needs to be modified. After removing the hub you will be able to remove the plastic cap behind it. You will see a hole in the cap where the sensor goes through it. Cut the top portion of the cap so the hole looks like a U and reinstall it. Clean the corrosion around the bearing mating surfaces and reinstall the rest of the parts. Do this for both rear wheels. Be sure to reconnect the front sensor after the repairs are made. You will need to have the codes cleared after repairing. __________________

TCS Light and SLIP Light turned on

There is a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on the Transaxle and then there are inputs from the ABS that go into the ECM to correlate the variances.... More than likely, you have a DIRTY ABS Sensor. Clean the sensor and the problem will go away. Be careful not to break the sensor when cleaning it.

My abs brakes engage every time I stop. No indicator lights are coming on at all.

very common issue...corrosion in rear spindles causes wheel speed sensors to contact hub assembly and cause erroneous speed signals to abs control unit.there is a tech bulletin issued by local dealer easy fix less than 300.00.

My abs light is on after I changed my brakes I changed my brakes because the abs was kicking in for some reason unknown and now the light is on and I don't know why 2004 Nissan maxima 3.5 se

If the ABS light is on, it's a good idea to find out what codes are stored.

The OBD-II system allows many codes to be read but a specialist with an ABS BrakeScan tool will be needed in order to find the codes for the ABS system for your vehicle.

I bought a Brakescan tool that works on most Ford, Chrysler, and GM vehicles from 1996 through 2005 but, I don't think it will work with the Nissan Maxima.

So, that's why I would direct you to the dealer for this one.

Overdrive light and airbag/abs lights flashing

Sounds like an ECM going out. The systems being effected are not related and usually only connected though the ECM. Have it checked at the dealer.

I am planning to buy a nissan maxima.but the seller said the ABS.TCS and slip lights are on which is making the tranny to slip a bit. is this true. 1. why would the tranny slip? 2. why also are those...

can be an expensive problem the abs and tcs module under the hood is probably going bad the tranny slipping is probably what is causing the othe lights to come on. the tcs stands for traction control system if it feels a slip in the tranny like on a gravel road or wet road it assists the vehicle into getting better traction.
