Have you recently changed wheels or tire size? that is a definite change to speed. it changes everything about speed, stopping distance, control of car, handling conditions, when you go up to 18in or 20in 22in 24in rims or tires it changes the whole handling of the car. maybe you bought it that way, look at tire size, your car should come from factory with 15inch rims and tires max. any changes to that increases the speed.thank you for choosing fixya.com

Colorado speedometer reads high according to GPS

Find one of those radar displays that sit on the roadside and tell you how fast you're going. Most likely your GPS is the one that's off, because it has to average and estimate your speed, wheras the vehicle's speedometer should be good from the factory.

Make sure you have the correct tire size on the car. Door jam sticker should show the correct tire size.

1998 plymouth voyager speedometer reads 15 over

I would suspect you have a faulty electronic speedo head, have the cluster removed and have it sent out for repair of the problem. There is no at home repair procedure for this problem, it takes special equip to repair the speedo.

Can 215/65/16 tires on a 1999 Caravan be swapped for 205/60/16 tires?

Yes, you'll be o.k. They don't recommend anything over 3% difference, and your at about 1.8%. Speedo will read 61 mph when actually doing 60 mph. Have a look.

Does a 92' cadillac sedan deville top out at 85 mph like it says on the speedometer?

Unless your car has a governor installed on it (doubtful) your car will do more than 85mph. At various time the government in its infinite wisdom has set limits on what the speedometer can read as a way to discourage drivers sppeding and from seeing what their car can do as far as top speed. I mean what's the point of burying the speedometer and holding it when you can no longer tell how fast you are really going.

Speedometer is going to fast

Does your car have a english/metric switch or option in the settings of the DIC? You may have it set on metric, which will cause the speedo to read killometers instead of mph.
