I have a 51 plate ford fiesta that has not started since the cold weather we have had. It makes a clicking noise on ignition and the dashboard lights up but the car will not start. do you know what is wrong?

The clicking noise is from the starter's solenoid telling me the battery's charge is too low to have the solenoid drive the engine to start
A recharged battery will help. If that does not work the solenoid needs to be replaced

Sounds like flat battery. try jump starting it from another vehicle.

I would try and jump start the car -- it sounds like the battery might be bad or low on voltage ( due to the cold or age ). if jumping the car works - make sure you test to make sure the alternator is charging properly.
plus this also could be a bad soleniod or starter motor --- but try the jump start first or a new battery.

My car would not start during cold weather, I replaced battery and starter, but did not fix problem. I found that the problem is the ignition switch, I could get it to work by banging around the ignition switch and holding the key in the start position.

1991 f 250 when starting during cold weather starter sticks to the run postion and ignition i can turn back and forth and truck will not shut off until starter burns out

IT sounds to me like the solenoid is sticking. Follow the large wire up from where it bolts onto stater and the next thing that wire is bolted to is the solenoid.
