Where I come from - we always used a match book cover to set the gap on the points and then used a dwell meter while the car was running.
the match book cover sounds a little ' back yard ' I know but it works every time.

I have a 1993 ford Econovan maxi . I have ignition point . What is the gap on the ignition point . Thanks

point gap is .40 to .50 mm ( point 4 to point 5 mm) or .015 to .20"
most point distributors are at the .02 " mark but check and adjust as points to wide will misfire under load or lack power if too close
point gap variations can change ignition timing

No spark to plugs, and have replaced coil; module

hi try the rotor and the cap, check to see if the carbon element in the end of the cap is ok, and clean the contacts if carboned up, check the cap for cracks and also the high tention lead comming from the coil to the cap, if you have contacts in the distributor check to make sure the gap is correct, to test this, remove cap turn engine over and whatch for spark between points/breakers ( do not know what you call them in US ) hope this helps

Do you know why when I look for a carburetor for a 1983 F-150 there is a gap from 1980-1983 that are not compatable?

I think 1981 and newer carbs are electronic feedback control and are used with computers.Early carbs don't have the feedback controls.

Point gap setting and timing

sorry my memory is fading. i would gap at 35 and for the timing i used to use a glass of water (sometimes it wasn;t water) put it on the air filter and turn the distributer till it shook the least. of course i had no money ,those days to buy a timing light or manuals....or you might contact/join a old ford club. they are tops for such info...my first car was a ford custom 65......

My fuel gauge goes to full when i fill it but drops to E when i stop for something 83 ranger 2.3L

Sounds like it is time to replace the sending unit to the fuel gauge in side the tank. It registers until the fuel sloshes around in the tank and the movement causes the float to bounce around and then it shorts out the sending unit so it can 't register. The sending unit has two surfaces that must remain in contact to register. After years of moving around it develops play in the pivot point that causes a gap in the connection and thus a false reading. You will need to remove the fuel tank to accomplish this replacement. Remember be careful if you undertake this task. You will have fuel and vapor in the tank. Empty as much fuel as possible first.
