OK, you have spark at the spark plugs, right? You have more than adequate fuel pressure. Do you have fuel in the cylinders? Pull a spark plug to see if they are wet with gas. If you have spark at the plug and fuel in the cylinder, it should start. Is this a recent problem, or has the truck been sitting for a while.?

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy. It died while driving today. Had it towed home. It will not start. Have good fuel pressure and spark is yellowish. replaced coil and ignition module. Also swapped out ecm. tried...

I have replaced countless distributprs for this issue. also fuel pressure has to be abovr 50 psi or will not start needs 50 pdi to open poppit valves on injectors. also if the spiders ruptured will be to much fuel and won't start hook up fuel gauge turn key on till reaches max psi turn the key off shouldn't loose more tham 15-20 psi if it does suspect spiders leaking.

Will turn over but it wont start

What is the fuel pressure? these trucks need a certain amount of pressure to start, if low just 3psi it will not start, if you are sure the pump is good then you may bad spider injector. check fuel pressure first and also try spraying starting fluid into throttle body and see if truck starts. the pump needs 60 -66 psi to start the truck.

What is the fuel pressure for a 1998 GMC Jimmy

Hi!!

The fuel system pressure for your Jimmy is 55-61 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch)

Vent the fuel tank vapors by loosening the fuel cap. Position the ignition switch and the A/C system in theoff position. Install a fuel pressure gauge to the vehicles fuel pressure valve. Confirm that no leaks are present, and with the key ON, engine OFF verify the PSI reading on the gauge.

1998 gmc jimmy 4.3 vortec starts and runs but shuts down when reaching operating temperature.

Your fuel filter may be at it's life time and will need to be replaced. Start with the simple and replace that, the other thing also that would cause the engine to shut down would be a faulty oil pressure sending unit. What is the oil pressure on the dash when the engine shuts down. You need at least 8 PSI to have the engine stay running. Check your Fuel pressure at the shredder valve and you should be 62-65 PSI with the engine not running and fuel system energized, once the engine is running it should drop about 5PSI. The last thing that could cause this would be a bad ICM, once the ignition system heats up the ICM fails and the engine shuts down. A mentioned, start with the simple and replace the fuel filter and check your fuel pressure to ensure your fuel Sending unit has not gone bad and will need to be replaced. Good luck and keep me posted.
