I have taken my 2003 GMC Envoy in to a GM dealer more than 6 times to be repaired for a very loud creaking noise in the front end. When I brake, the creaking noise starts. Or if I go over a bump, the creaking noise is there. They have replaced the links, greased the links, replaced the bushings and upper control arms, but it sounds like my Envoy is a 1,000 year old ship with all its creaks and squeaks. I actually love driving it, but am embarassed now because everyone can hear me coming even before I have arrived! Any thoughts or suggestions?

My wife drives a 2003 GMC Envoy and has been complaining about this same creaking noise upon breaking or going over speed humps. I researched this topic on the internet high and low and tried everything I read to no avail. I was about to give up and then realized it could be the motor mounts since when you break or go over bumps the engine does have some movement. Sprayed the most interesting looking motor mounts I've ever seen with silicone spray and the noise was gone! My wife has been complaining for years about this noise and now looking back what a simple solution!. By the way my motor mounts where not worn out, the rubber portion of the mount just needed a little lube.

I had asked the repair technician to replace the stabilizer bar, but he insisted that that was not the problem. I am going to be taking it to a different dealer soon and I will ask them to check the suspension, the stabilizer bar and the struts.

yes -- I would try a different dealer ( or a independent mechanic that deals with suspension/shocks and struts ). I found a noise problem on my friends truck and it turned out to be a loose shock nut,, I am not saying that that is the problem, but from your description it sounds like a suspension issue.
good luck and have a happy New Year ( !!! ).

Loud creaking noise(s) from front wheels when braking.

Well if the brakes are good (I'm not convinced) I would look at some of the bushings associated with the front end (control arm, sway bar .etc)

Ticking sound

Gm will tell you this is normal lifter noise if it from the top of the motor. It could be from the exhaust but you would hear it from under the car more. I do not care for the responce from GM but they say it is ok.

2003 Envoy, abs light came on and emercency brake light on.

There is a chance that your ABS module is going out, or has gone out, although that doesn't explain the rough idle problem. I had the same thing happen on my '01 Tahoe, and it's a known problem with ABS units. Repair at dealer is over $1200.00. Repair yourself with a rebuilt module is $150.00+shipping and a little elbow grease. Get on EBay, search for ABS module repair, and there is a company in Russia, Iowa who will rebuild the one you have, and warrant it for 5 years (GM won't do that with their $1200 repair.).

The rough idle I bet is coincidental and not related.

Idle drops when in park

You should check with a scanner to retrive the codes the PCM register, depending the code you can either send the vehicule to a mecanic or to a GM dealer for repair.Do not desconnect the battery anymore or you'll loose all the PCM codes and it will be difficult to find the exact problem.luck!
