Go to auto zone and pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual for like $25.00 you wont regret it and it will be very helpful.

A torque wrench to tighten the bolts to spec. Necessary tools to remove the head bolts. A gasket scraper for the rocker cover gasket and the head gasket.. If you have a blown head gasket the chances of a warped head is about 98%, so be prepared to have the head machined flat before reinstalling the head. You might want to do a valve job and replace the valve stem seals since you're going to remove the head. If you decide to do a valve job, you MUST do both heads or the engine will never run good.

If you are going to attempt something serious like a blown head gasket, you need to buy a service manual to get all the step by step instructions you will need to do it right. You can usually find one on the ebay motors for a reasonable price.

I know you would like a step by step instruction, but that would take more space than what this site allows and even then I would miss something since I don't have the manual for your vehicle only a disk that isn't near as complete as the manual. Sorry, but that is how I feel!

What would cause my 1985 ford bronco to run ruff


Timing, need of a tune up, head gasket, low compression.... and if it has the 2.9l V-6, the intake gasket could have been "sucked". Basically, Ford had a huge problem with intakes on the 2.9 (which is why they came up with the 2.8). The mating of the intake manifold to the "valley" between the heads for some reason allowed for massive vacuum leaks. We need a lot more info to properly diagnose this, but these are some ideas. NEED INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO FIX HEAD GASKET


You can purchase one at an autoparts store for about $20 - $25 or on ebay for $10. A haynes or chilton manual will give you step by step instructions. If you've never done this before you are looking at about 2 - 4 days of work and make sure to GET THE HEAD(S) RESURFACED. Don't try to save money by skipping this step doing so will make you do the whole thing over again.

Most likey a bad head gasket between #2 and 3 cylinder. Pull the valve cover and see ifthe valves are working, and blue smoke could be valve guide seals and the valves may be stuck open.

if u live by a library go to their reference area and look up their car repair manuals photostat the 3 pages if library is neg ask an auto shop if u can copy theirs ,or go 2 a police dept that has the mech shop on grounds they have the books and cd s for the ford line. or last chilton or haynes books

1990 ford 2.9l in a bronco II- it has no power and oil is pumping up and leaking out the top of the oil dipstick. was told it has a blown head gasket but no water in the oil and the engine does not smoke....


Remove and plug the PCV valve hose with bolt to check and see if this is the issue, many times the crankcase is not venting properly and the PCV valve needs replacment it is inexpensive enough just replace the PCV valve located on one of the valve covers it has a hose going to it.

Engin oil in my radiator on 93 ford bronco 351w


Could be a blown head gasket. Does the vehicle overheat? Do you lose coolant? Is there water in the oil? If the oil has also gone white or grey, you most certainly have a blown head gasket.
