This is something that you can do yourself. Check the the vacuum lines. Check for cracks or defects. It wont do any serious damage but it will run poorly and effect your gas mileage and performance.

Vehicle speed sensor does not cause any damage to the transmission , but is MUST, not to monitor the speed only but the ECM also uses its signals for performing many other tasks.

My 1996 honda accord consumes too much fuel in a ratio of 1-6 km /liter, what seems to be the problem? I have it tuned up, cleaned the throttles, etc,, but to no avail. whats the best thing to do?

Since you've cleverly already done the normal tune-up items that preserve the 96 Accord's good fuel economy, its time to move onto the tougher adventures.

Cars with outrageously bad fuel consumption are losing fuel somehow (aka leaking).
(a) There's a fuel tank drain plug on the bottom of the fuel tank (used to drain tank for service) - make sure its tight and that the tank isn't leaking fuel there.
(b) check your fuel lines - there are 2 (one supplies fuel to the engine, and the other returns excess to the tank). If either is leaking, your car will lose petrol quickly.
(c) the evaporative fuel canister - instead of absorbing vapours, it may be full of fuel and leaking..
(d) check your fuel rail - its pressurized with fuel while the car is running - it may be leaking - and if it is: (1) the top of your engine will soon catch fire (2) the fuel may be evaporating as soon as it leaks, since the top of the engine gets so hot.

Use a fuel pressure gauge to test the fuel pressure in your 96 Accord's fuel rail - attach your
(with an appropriate (brass) adapter) to where the banjo bolt enters the top of the fuel filter - as
described in this passage from the Honda repair manual:

From the 1996 Honda Accord repair manual:
Note that this part of the Honda manual fails to mention that before you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, you must note (and write down) the 3-digit radio lock code
--- begin excerpt ---
The Fuel System Pressure Specification

38-46 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch)Remove the ground cable from the negative battery post and also remove the fuel tank filler cap. Slowly release system pressure at the fuel filter and cleanup spilled fuel. Remove the Banjo bolt and install a fuel pressure test gauge. Reconnect the battery ground cable and proceed to start the engine and allow the system pressure to stabilize. While the engine is at idle, block off/pinch the number (1) vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator and visually verify the fuel pressure reading on the test gauge.
--- end excerpt from 1996 Honda Accord repair guide ---

(e) possible leaking fuel pressure regulator - located at back of top side of engine, and looks like an
enlarged fuel filter - with hose clamps on either end clamping the fuel line. Retighten its bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft-lbs) when done checking it (for leakage).

(f) to move on from fuel - if you're getting only partial ignition, your fuel economy will suffer too - but you'll smell alot of unburned fuel in your exhaust (and get alot of backfiring). Use your HEI (high energy ignition) tester to rule out ignition (spark) problems.

My honda accord 96 has check engine light on, how to fix this problem?

Probably an 02 (oxygen) sensor or maybe a vacuum problem as simple tightening your gas cap. There are two 2 sensors in most cars so you have to figure out which one it is, or bring it to the service station. You can't pass inspection in most states with the "check engine" light on.

1998 honda accord automatic....when i change from

Make sure you report the problem to the National Highway Transportation Safety agency (www.nhtsa.gov). Also-research the web and you will find hundred similar complaints and a successful class action lawsuit in California against Honda for 1999-2001 Accord transmissions that showed the same malfunction code. The California settlement required Honda to repair transmissions and extend warranties up to 109,000 miles and 93 months.

These Transmissions are hard to FIX...I found very few rebuilders that can pull it off... They were recalled in 2000 ....sorry but it is no easy fix... the ONLY OTHER CLUNKING could be a problem is : your motor mounts are vacuum assisted meaning if you have a vacuum leak they will not stiffen the mounts correctly.... it sound crazy but look underneath you have small 5/16 vacuum lines near the radiator mount and some have it ont he firewall mount... I drive 99 Ex Accord!!!! rebuilt tranny 2 times !!!! make sure you get a warranty if you do...2000-2400 is a good cost....

Check for a small leak in your radiator. Mine was leaking on top near the cap. Had a small crack which caused my temp to run hot.

How can i solve engine oil leaking?

You probably have rings that are wore down, the main problem would be to replace motor. But, a quick fix is to buy a bottle of Lucas at your local auto parts place and it will temporarily seal the leak. Hope this helps.

96 accord cylinder 1 misfire tried changing plugs, wires, cap and roter, as well as taking injectors out and cleaning. still #1 misfire

You probably have a vacuum leak at that intake runner. If there is nothing obvious like a vacuum fitting on that runner with a cracked hose, then try spraying around that runner's gasket mating surface with some aerosol carb cleaner, if you hear the revs change you have a bad gasket. Failing this, possibly low compression on this hole?
