Question about Honda Civic

1 Answer

My friend has a Honda Civic Sedan 1999. Central Pipe has a hoe. She was told to use straight tubing to fix it but not how to do it. Should the straight tubing go inside or outside the pipe and how could I seal the extremities?

Hello Tony.

The best way is to get a pipe that fits snug on the inside or outside of the existing pipe, outside is best.
Cut out the bad section, slide the pipe over the other and use a proper diameter exhaust clamp to crush them together.

Cut out the bad section, take the piece to your favorite auto supplier or exhaust shop and have them cut you a repair piece. Ask them for a couple of clamps to fit as well.
If the pipe fits well enough you will not need to worry about it leaking after it is clamped.

Thank you for using FixYa.
Happy New Year !

I use a sawsall with a metal blade. Works very well. But you need a quality blade. Cheap ones don't last.

Can not find a bleeder screw on a 1999 honda civic sedan

There is not bledder screw. If you are referring to the drain plug, it is located at the bottom edge of the radiator itself on the passenger side.

Where is the orifice tube on a 1998 Honda civic ex?

You have an "expansion valve" which does the same job as the more common "orifice tube" most other cars have.

Is the compressor running but you do not have cold air?
Then you may need one.

Is the compressor not running when the A/C is turned on?
Then look for a low level or no refrigerant in the system,a bad compressor and/or a system electrical problem.
The high pressure cutout switch on/in the compressor is a common problem if the compressor will not run with a fully charged system.

Central locking

I bought a remote lock unit from JC Whitney for about 40 bucks. It did not have any bells and whistles (like horn and flashing lights), but it was pretty easy to install. Your car has a connector coming out from the drivers door. If you can find it, the installation is very easy because two of the four wires that need to be hooked up are these two. The other two are the power and the ground. You can attach a female spade connector to the power wire and plug that into the fuse block.
