Probably a loose connection at the sensor. Also check for oil coming out of the sensor, they can leak.

Ok its been awhile but which sensor are you refering to? I've messed with the oil level sensor on the oil pan no luck. I also today repaced the oil pressure sending unit and no luck. My oil pressure gauge is just stuck all the way past the high end. Only comes back to normal on colders days been then starts to jump past the high end.

My oil and gas gauge on my truck jump .... gas gauge works fine till i get to about half a tank then it starts jumping.. oil gauge jumps from the time i start my car and regulates but when i slow down or...

You probably have a bad sending unit for the fuel level in the tank. this would cause the gauge to be erratic when the level is below 1/2 tank and the float is moving around much more than when full. The oil pressure gauge problem could be caused buy a loose wire connection or a faulty sending unit.

I have an 02 wrangler and the oil preasure goes down when Idling is that an oil pump going bad?

First we would need to know when this occurs. Asuming the oil level is at the full mark!. If the pressure goes up during acceleration and down at idle when engine is fully warmed up, then this is normal. An engine requires 10 psi of oil pressure per 1,000 rpm ( ex. 20 psi at 2,000 rpm, 25 psi at 2,500 rpm, and so on ) . If the gauge is moving back and forth erratically at idle , i would say the gauge is bad. If it drops to 0 while accelerating I would say your oil pump is bad. If from time to time it seems to work and other times it seems not to work, I would say the oil pressure sending unit for the gauge is bad. If the pump failed you would start to here a Knocking noise from the engine in a short period of time. Use the above scenario's to narrow down what it may be.

1984 nissan 300zx oils pressure gauge goes to

Sounds like an electrical problem, make sure the ground leads to the engine are good and the battery terminals are clean. It might just be a bad connection in the wiring harness try jiggling the connections to see if it makes the gauges jump when it is running.

Whats an engine switch for a oldsmobile 1983 cutlass

there are a few switches for the engine, the coolant temp switch, this controls the temp gauge on the dash, then the coolant fan switch that turns on the fans when engine is hot and then the oil preasure switch that lights the oil light on dash when oil preasure is low, hope this helps.

verified with a pressure gauge that you have exactly that the oil pressure sensor, you might just find this the most accurate is failing that test salts so sure.

Low oil pressure light is on on 2000 lexus rx300. Doesn't need oil or an oil change. Not leaking oil.

try replacing the oil preasure switch, if that doesnt solve your problem then have your oil preasure tested, if it really doesnt have oil preasure it will cause internal engine damage so start with the switch and then go from there, hope this is helpful.

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0L engine. The oil pressure gauge usually stays around 40 on the highway but when I come to a stop it drops down to 10. Is this normal or is my oil pump getting ready...

No this is normal. As an engine wears then oil preasure will be less this is not due to a weak oil pump but wear in crank shaft bearing's. When an engine is new and bearings are tight then oil preasure wont fall a lot from reved up to idle as the engine wear's oil escapes quicker from the crank shaft bearings. Reved up oil preasure increases idle it drops off. If the oil light stays out then their is enough preasure to lubricate the engine. In fact in an older engine high oil preasure is a worse complaint as this means the oil system is clogging. All is ok with your pump. If the oil preasure is moving up and down at constant rev.'s then the oil pump is faulty. Hope this put's your mind to rest.
