The anti theft is working! try manually locking your doors, then wait 15 minutes, unlock the doors with key, the last door you should lock is drivers. lock all doors from inside but drivers, when you shut drivers door, lock it from outside with the key.leave it alone for about 15 minutes please! when you unlock it with the key, if the alarm goes off, disconnect the battery for 10mins. then start over, just remember to lock the driverside door from outside this time with the key!!!

Stalling and not restarting when warm, crank sensors were changed and it made no difference

You might try and remove the anti theft system. If that doesn't work try to disconnect the battery until the system resets itself. BTW howdoes it run? Is it in good shape otherewise?

1999 Buick Regal LS 3.8L wont crank or start also the key is stuck in the ignition and battery is dead.

The security, antitheft, or passlock light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.

2003 ford expedition will not crank below 50 degrees. Security light on the dash will flash real fast. motor will turn over just will not crank. later in the day when it warms up it will start right up and...

It can be as simply as a bad battery. The Antitheft system views a low battery as an attempted theft action. Then the Antitheft cuts cranking voltage to around 7 Volts to prevent the engine from starting.

Battery voltage drops in cold weather. This would explain your problem and the activation of the Antitheft light.

Please rate my info. You might try adding a battery charger for a few minutes before you try starting it and see what effects it has.

Another idea is to turn off the A/C when cranking. The A/C clutch is a big drag on the system AND is temperature controlled to disengage the clutch at lower outside temperatures. If this control is not working, the A/C would not disengage.

You can get the starter tested on the vehicle with a DRAW test. The battery can be tested too. FREE at most big parts stores like Autozone.

2000 Chevy Impala just had a used engine installed. Battery is brand new, but the car will not even turn over when you try and start the car. THe radio lights and all the electrical components work fine....

These cars and many many many other gm cars and trucks are equipped which an antitheft feature. Many times on engines swaps and ignition changes, this system gets interrupted because the computer is not seeing the proper signal from the original equipment. Try to start the car, when it doesn't turn over, leave the key in the "on" position. Look for a light near your gauges that says "security" or "antitheft". If you see this indicator light, then the problem is definitely the antitheft system. Fixing it is rather expensive. Bypassing it is relatively cheap. This link explains everything you need to know.

Antitheft failure can cause a "no start" situation. Look for a light in the dash that says security or antitheft. If you see that light, go to this link

Looking for emergency shut off switch for 02 sunfire

This could very possibly be the antitheft system failing. Gm has had issues with this system since the 80's. When the system fails, the car will crank but not start. Might run for a second or more and then die. If these symptoms sound similar to yours, the antitheft might be the issue. Also look for a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. This is a telltale sign of an antitheft failure. This link explains the problem and solutions to fix this yourself.

Many things come into play here and FIXYA can not see the vehicle to access what all problems could be . FUEL and spark need checked could be a bad starter also . then timing comes into play .

If its antitheft im in trouble

does the car cranks aND wont start or does not crank at all?
if it does not crank at all se if there is any aftermarket alarm system, if it is you will see a little red light flashing somewhere
also try to lock the car with the key and unlock it from outside soemtimes this will disable the antitheft system
