Question about Ford Expedition EL

2006 ford expedition limited edition wth 78,000 miles, while accelerating at a low speed between 25 an 35 miles an hr there may be a shutter/vibration? replaced the spark plugs about a yr ago or 15,000 miles back! The shutter only seems to happen from time to time and only at lower speeds, dont notice anything unusual at higher speeds and when excellerating it stops, also the car never stals and there is no ignition light that comes on???

This may be a transmission issue. See if you can narrow it down to which gear you feel the shudder. Also, I would take a clean paper towel and check your transmission fluid. When you wipe off the dip stick it should be a clear red color. Any dark fluid is a sign of trouble. Sometimes just a transmission flush or a filter and fluid change can fix early problems. Many people forget about the transmission filters and fluid because they are out of sight and out of mind and there are usually not many warnings until a bigger problem has occurred.
You may want to have someone from a reputable transmission shop drive it. And don't get talked into anything big without a second opinion from another shop.
I don't mean to scare you, it just sounds to me like a transmission issue, but its hard to tell over the internet.

I am having the same problem with my 2006 Expedition. Mine only occurs in 2nd gear when accelerating normally, or if 2nd gear is required for a period of time. If I accelerate quickly, i think it skips 2nd gear and goes straight to 3rd, and i don't have the problem. I have replaced the throttle control body and TPS about a year ago before this started. I read on another forum that it may be a broken valve in the bottom of the transmission. The lady said she replaced all 8 of them and this solved the problem. Does this sound right? I would love to think this is the problem as opposed to having to drop the entire transmission and pay a bazillion dollars to have that done.

Many issues can be fixed from just removing the transmission pan. I am not experienced on that transmission type, but I would say that all the servos and electronic parts should be able to be replaced thru the transmission pan while installed in the vehicle.
The big problems that require removal of the transmission are usually clutch parts and bands, and usually the transmission fluid will be much darker, indicating clutch/band material in the oil or burnt oil from slipping.
Usually a servo will cause the shuddering, because the application of the servo is delayed and not a crisp, clean application.
The faster the clutches engage the less wear. This of course is balanced out by driveability issues. Obviously you don't want the family sedan shifting like a dragster so its all a compromise. I would definately ask around and find a good transmission shop to help you through this.

Hi, this actually sounds like your heating system may lack vacuum. The system is designed to fail in the defrost mode. Some vehicles shut down ac compressor under heavy acceleration, but you did not mention heavy throttle.

So, look for vacuum leaks, you may need to install a vacuum reservoir. You may have engine performance issues, causing low manifold vacuum, you may have a check valve that failed, so under acceleration, the vacuum is not shut off, but rather evacuated into the engine...

Hope it helps....

2006 Expedition Limited, misses while driving.

I have a 2006 expedition with 136,000 miles and have had the transmission checked and replaced the coil wires but it still misses at 40-50 MPH and at 70 mph does the same sound. If you accelerate and back off the go again it sounds like the transmission is clunking but the transmission guy said it wasn't the transmission. HELP!!!
