Engine don't start and have a clicking sound

Hi, I just purchase a 2004 A4 3 months ago and everything was running good but recently I haven't drive the car for 4 days and when I turn the ignition, the car have a clicking sound and the engine don't start. I notice the radio, head lights and everything else works fine, but just unable to start the engine. Is it the starter that needs to be replace or is there something I can do ? please advise...
Thanks,
LA

i have an 2003 a4 quattro, and the past two mornings it didn't start (JUST CLICKING).  All the electrical systems worked except it seemed as if the computer wasn't powered up because the information screen in the centre of the cluster flickered a few times, but for the most part it was off the whole time.... Yesterday i tried jump starting and it didnt work, then i disconnected the power and ground cables from the battery and jump connected them to a running car...and it worked, once the car was running i carefully re-attached the car battery and it worked all day till the next morning.  I was lucky it didnt reset my radio .  But i still dont know the problem could it be the battery amperage or a faulty main relay?

You should check and see the batttery smart visor indicator (if applicable - see owners manual)
this may be that the battery has been drained and does not have enough power to rotate the starter. lights, dashboard, instruments light up ok as the voltage is there but the power (amperage) is low. please refer to owners manual on how to recharge your battery. bare in mind that removing the baterry from the care will reset systems (audio, alarm) and you wil need to recode them by using the codes provided with the car.

Actually, I changed the battery for a BRAND NEW Dealer batter I bought from a VW Dealer, and it solved my problem.  Was low in juice.

3.3 engine? these have a problem with the timing chain guides. It starts making noise, eventually it gets louder. Good news though, it always keeps running. Never have seen one break. Most people live with it. $800+ job.

Intermitente starting problems & transmission seemed to go out the other day while driving it

sounds more like an engine issue off the top of my head. The transmission runs off the vacuum from the engine. If the engine timing chain is stretched it will run then not run, have problems idling and shifting and won't charge the battery properly. anyone who has done one before could probably tell you just by the sound of the engine running.

I recently purchased a 2004 Kia Rio. It is in excellent condition. A week ago, before registering it, we had an inspection and oil change done. Everything runs great, there are no problems with this car...

Hi:
I have not heard of an oil change causing a check engine light.

A good plan is to have your Kia scanned, to see what the code is that tripped the check engine light. Most auto parts stores, such as autozone, will do this for free.
Some codes are very simple, such as a loose gas cap.

Once you find out what the code is, you can then make an educated decision on what to do.

Loud air intake engine noise on startup

If the vehicle has a clutch fan, verses an electric fan, sometimes the clutch will spin the fan too fast or at erratic speeds. I'm not saying that's what it is, but just one possible reason. Seeing how you have the warrany, I would take it in and not leave until they have remedied the problem. Let us know how everything turns out and good luck.
