Question about 2001 Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

Turn signals and brake lights do not work. I have replaced the fuses and the relays. I have installed a new multi-function switch and a brake light switch. I have looked for a short in the wires and cannot find one. I am out of options. What else could it be.

I do not accept this solution. I have already replaced the brake sensor switch.

Hello you did not specified that you replaced your brake sensor switch in your initial request for solution and support. Now you say that you already replaced your clearly contradict your self if you go back and read your initial request and inquiry for support. you will clearly read it is not mentioned that you replaced that..Now after i supplied you with the rite solution 3 days later you come along and say i already replaced it so i do not accept my solution sounds like you received a correct accurate solution and now your not wanting to pay for solution and support.

Have 2001 durango no brake lights no turn signals but have tail lights. checked fuses, relays, bulbs, and replaced multi function switch

Find the fuse that relates to the brake lights and turn signals, then with a vault meter check both sides of the fuse for battery voltage and trace back from there.

Why no right side turn signal or brake light?

Check the bulbs, and turn signal relay under dash. And just to be sure about the fuse replace it with new 1 to if it start.

Replace multi-function switch 2005 mariner

The tail light is usually a bulb with lower wattage, so it won't glow as brightly as the brake and turn lights.. There should be one or two other bulbs in either of the two tail assy's. The turn signal can use the same bulb as the brake light. If so, it's up to the flasher assy to direct the lights to both come on, and/or for one to flash if the brake and turn signal is on, e.g.. There could also be a backup light.

So if the brake and turn lights don't operate, look to the fuses, and flasher assy. for possible replacement.

2001 PT Cruiser loss of turn signals and hazard lights after multi-function switch replacement. I replaced the multi-function switch after noticing the fogs lights staying on when not engaged. When the new...

Perhaps you need to start with fog light problem I am guessing we do not know for sure the switch was the cause, if you can remove them from the equation. When checking for shorts make sure you check light bulbs to,
Next, since the multi function switch was the next step in your problem solving, I suggest you remove the new switch check out all wires to the connector, be especially careful to make sure none of wires have pulled out or partially pulled out of the connector. Let me know when you finish this then we can move on to continuity testing.
My best guess is the connector as it is common to both your fog light and multi-function switch,
Above all don't let it get to you, these problems can be frustrating but they also can be interesting and fun especially with the right assistant

Brake lights won't work.... replaced fuse it's fine, top light on hatch works, but right and left don't

need to check the multi-function switch. the brake light signal goes through the turn signal switch on the steering column. the brake lights come on if the turn signal is not being operated. the circuit for the brake light can loose contact in the switch.

I have a 2000 chevy 2500 and the tail lights, tag lights and brake lights have stopped working, I checked the bulbs and they are good, fuses are good. Have not replaced the brake relay under the hood. Do I...

check for power at the wires going intop the tail lights, real common that the circuit board is bad, but unlikely both at the same time. The tag, tail lights and brakes are 2 different systems. Do the turn signals work normally? if so the wiring from the turn signal switch to the brake lights is GOOD. the stop light switch had\s a ORANGE wire that should have 12V if not ck STOP LPS fuse, when brake pedal is depressed, the WHITE wire is 12V (at the stop light switch) if that is OK, the turn signal switch COULD be bad. The wiring harness plug is near the back left under the tailgate, see if that is disconnected?

I had the same problem with my 2001. I found it was the multi function switch. Better known as your turn signal switch. I found that the hazard switch portion of it had shorted. replacement is fairly easy, aftermarket part is available, much cheaper than GM.
