This comes from personal experience on my Mother's '03 Impala. Apparently the chip in the key died. Tried the spare key that came with the car and it all works again. If this solves your problem (as it did mine) just go to your dealership and have a new key cut.
I tried the second key, and it didn't work either. The second key is now stuck in the ignition...
I'm sorry it didn't for as it did for me. However, I'm puzzled about the key getting stuck in the ignition.
Do you have a separate, different key to open the trunk?
If so, you didn't put that key in the ignition switch, did you?
Assuming this isn't the case, then it would appear you have a faulty ignition lock assembly. They're not too difficult to replace. You best bet, if you want to pursue this yourself, would be to get a vehicle specific repair manual at your local auto parts store . They typically will clearly outline how to affect this repair.
