Question about 2001 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

Blazer you asked if i could hear my fuel pump yes i can but i have figured that if i hook it up to a battery charger for about 5-6 hrs and it gets fully charged i have no problem until the battery dies i have been told that the reason it maybe doing that is because of the extra juice it is correcting the problem for a minute or a week or two or longer lol

First test the battery, Kragen will do this free, but I will tell you the fuel pump is probably sticking due to worn shaft bearings, and needs to be replaced, when you do that install a new filter at the same time, under warranty if you don't do both they deny the claim, seems a partially plugged filter can ruin a new fuel pump very quickly.

When blazer sets over 4 or 5 hrs has to crank several times before starting

The fuel pump is designed to turn on for a couple of seconds and prime with the key on. This is normal. If there is an extended crank, the fuel pressure may be bleeding back into the tank through the check valve of the fuel pump or there is an injector leak/fuel pressure regulator leak causing the pressure to bleed off causing the extended crank. Install a fuel pressure gague and monitor the pressure to see if it bleeds off to 0. If it does, one of the afore mentioned is causing the problem

95 blazer fuel prob's.

It drops when it is turned off through the return the pump might be getting weak If you keep using the starting fluid you will blow the intake off of it or it will get hooked on it and won't start without it.

How do you take off fuel filter?

Just a thought. When you turn on the ignition, do you hear the fuel pump? If not, your problem, including acceleration, could be pump going bad.

Left cad nortstr running overnight, out of gas n dead bttry.wont start,no fuel in rail.bad fuel pump? how much?

Put at least 5 gallon of fuel in the tank. Charge the battery full with a battery charger. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine. See if you hear the pump run for a few seconds and then shut off. You may have to listen carefully in the truck to hear it. If you hear the pump it is more than likely ok. Do this about 5 times to prime the pump. Purchase a can of starter fluid and follow the directions on the can to start the engine. You may have to do this time and time again until you get fuel to the fuel rail. I would then replace the fuel filter.

S10 blazer starting problems

First thing to do is chg. fuel filter, than if that don't help, do a fuel pressure chk. pump might be getting weak. if all that chks. out ok it could be fuel regulator, but most likely its either the filter or pump.

My 97 Chevy blazer has a Immobilizer ; doesn't start.

I agree with gasitjr.
I own a 98 blazer. When you try to turn over the engine. Does the engine rotate? If yes,it's not the starter or the battery. When you turn the key into the ON position before it starts can you hear an electric motor noise winding up? If yes , the fuel pump maybe OK but if the pump pressure is bad...blazer wont start. Pump runs about 300 plus labor. I've done it..It sucks

1999 blazer wont start??

Your battery is either faulty or ther is a parasitic drain, have it checked out at parts house. With a good battery installed, spray some starter fluid into intake housing. If it starts, then dies, you have fuel pressure/delivery problems. Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn on the key? Hope this helps.

2001 chevy blazer not starting

I had this same problem with my 1997 Blazer, which required a fuel pump replacement as Nitrobike said. The sign to look for is when you get in the Blazer, turn your key forward to the accessory position, but not the start position. You should hear the fuel pump charging. It sounds like a hissing or whirring noise for about 2-3 seconds while it pumps fuel into the lines to prime the engine.

Fuel pump replacement isn't cheap, about $700-$1000.
