Question about Saturn Ion

2 Answers

Stopped for gas on my way home from work. Tried to start car but it would not turn over. Sounded like the battery was dead but it is less than 2 months old and was tested the day before and was good. Left the car sitting for 10 minutes and it started. This is the third time this has happened. Had the electrical system checked and it was good. Any solutions?

Are you sure that the connections at battery and engine are good or starter connections corosion at connections or loose grounds could be relays or switch at ignition i need more imfo to be sure such as do you have headlights horn radio etc when this happens or nothing at all in car works or does the starter crank slow like a dead bat this could be a flat spot in starter causing this and when you let it sit it cools down so you can start it or a bad ground that heats up looses contact and when it cools down its ok but i need more imfo

Please check to be sure that connections at your battery are tight and clean. Try to turn them by hand. if you can, they're not tight enough. If this is not the case, I would suspect a faulty starter. When it will not turn over, do your headlamps, and the rest of the electrical accessiries work? If so, try tapping the starter with a hammer, LIGHTLY. This will usually make it work a few more times. Good luck!

What would cause black soot /smoke around alternator on 04 pacifica and then it not start with fully charged battery?

The battery gives the voltage necessary to start the vehicle, then after it is started the alternator will spin off the accessory belt and recharge the battery for the next startup. If your alternator was bad the vehicle would start but turn off shortly after driving a few miles. After making sure the battery is charge, clean the battery terminals and make sure they're tightly connected to the battery. If the engine doesnt turn over, it may be your starter. The alternator on the Pacificas arent really hard to take off since theyre located on the top,so if you're second guessing its the alternator, then just release the belt tensioner pulley and loosen the alternator bolts and have it tested at your local auto parts store. Good luck

Wont start

If it's making clicking noise then that sounds and means that it's the starter... Nothing else makes it click when turning the key, then the starter... If it was the Alternator it wouldn't hold the charge... You could try with jumper cables to turn it on then removing the negative terminal from the battery... If it turns off then it's the Alternator... Those are two possible solutions... Keep with the updates.

Recetnly purchased a used 2003 Suzuki Aerio from dealership. Car was running fine. Then suddenly would not start after being parked at work. The interior lights went dim when door opened, and battery...

i would say thats a good idea, if you got an extended warranty! from most of the symptoms i would say it sounded like your alternator was hooped. the clicking from the dash...if it's coming from the engine side it sould be your solinoid which clicks back and forth to open and close the circuit to send the signal for the started to crank when you turn the key. why it would be on when everythings is off and then shut off when you open the door i don't know. sorry i couldn't more (if any) help

Car won't start

i don't know much about us cars but there is normally a temperature button i don't know what it is called a button as it is not one lol
it mesures the temperature of the car and tells the car if it is safe to start or not
this to me sounds like the problem
had this problem with a mitsubishi magna
it is cheep and easy to fix
on some cars it stops the starter motor from starting other cars it stops the spark and some it stops the fuel flow
hope this helps

While driving, all warning lights on dash suddenly were lit. When I stopped the car, it wouldn't start again and sounded as though the battery was dead.

Probably the alternator died, then used up all the power in your battery to keep the car running.
Have your alternator tested and maybe replaced. The battery needs tested also.

Hope this helps

Get a new battery. The battery seems to be too drained of power. It will still light the dash but does not have enough power to turn the starter.Of course, before buying the battery, have it tested. Probably has a dead cell.

On the air conditioner, it seems you may have the condenser drain hose pulled out of the dash hole that leads to the outside and the water that condenses goes into the car instead of to the street. Of course, it also could be that the plastic housing is cracked and the water leaks out through that.
