2004 F-150 water in gas tank. Replaced fuel filter twice and added additives to the gas. Check engine light still and still runs rough when idling and will stop running at times; however it starts right back up.

You might have to clean the tank because the pump might have problems as well the injectors could be clogged or it wasnt only water in gas if you are sure no sugar was added in tank i would check the fuel pump just the same if it is easy to remove

2004 trailblazer, after getting gas, check gages lite came on, then turned off. truck running rough and after going over 40 miles per hr, service engine lite flashes.

Sounds like there was water in the gas, which would make the engine run rough, service engine lite might go on. Try adding an octaine additive to gas.

1997 4Runner 4wd, 6cyl Limited. Engine running rough. replaced plugs, wires, coils, fuel filter, and computer and still runs rough. I discovered codes on invoice of P0300 and P304. Have paid a lot of $$...

could have a dirty fuel injector, ad some cleaner to a half tank of fuel, you could have water in the tank and many other things. Are you getting any service lights? Does it run rough all the time or only on rainy days? p0300 and p0304 are both misfire codes, i would try cleaning the fuel injectors first.

Engine stalling

The sulfur smell is usually low grade gas or a problem with the catalytic converter.
In your case I would go for bad gas, especially if the problem just started happening recently. You can try adding premium to the tank and drive it out. You may have to replace the fuel filter once or twice if the gas has water or other contamination.

My Trailblazer started idling and running rough intermittently. We thought bad gas. We were on a trip and used a gas teatment to get rid of water. Did not help. Delaer thought the same but now says...

I'm guessing you have the 6 cylinder engine and not the 8? I don't buy what the dealer told you. If you're really worried about a little water in the fuel system, run a bottle of Seafoam through the brake booster/ gas tank, that will solve any water in the system. Change your fuel filter after you do this, it will be dirty now, due to the Seafoam cleaning your gas tank. Wondering what would need to be "sealed" if there were a little water in a cylinder due to bad gas??? There are 6 coils on this engine, one per cylinder. If the coil goes bad, you would get a check engine light for a cylinder misfire and it would be consistantly running rough. Since it your problem happens intermittently, I'd check the wires going to the coil for any faults. I'd also check for a possible 02 sensor starting to go bad.

1 thought, does this only happen when ever you happen to have the defroster on, or the A/C? If so, I can help you solve your problem easily.

1995 Chevy Astro rough idle after choke goes off and engine is at full operating temperature, also no check engine light.

Inspect/replace air filter.
Fill the gas tank to above 3/4 and add Lucas FUELSYSTEM CLEANER.
Ran on the highway for 10+ miles.

Monitor is the rough idle condition is getting worst on below 1/4 tank.
Change fuel filter and check fuel pressure.
Most failing/weak fuel pump will not work well below 1/4 tank mark.
It will fail in a HOT DAY.

Engine ligh is on, Overdrive light blinks on

check if you use e-mix fuel
if that is the case , put a bottle of methylated sprirts in the fuel tank to mix with the water from the e-mix fuel and then after running the fuel out, refill with normal fuel and a quality injector cleaner

Everytime I run my car low on fuel then add more, whether I fill it up or not,it starts missing and the 'service engine soon' light comes. WE thought it was something to do with the firing system at first...

You've got water in your tank. There are fuel additives that remove water from the gas tank that work very well. As you run the tank low, all the water and other "junk" that collect on the bottom of the tank are now being injected into your fuel line, causing erratic idling and occasional misfires.
