I am not an expert, and its been a few years since I had to fiddle with one, but typically a voltmeter is put on the output of the alternator and if its putting out less than 13 volts its usually bad, it should be putting out about 13.5 volts to be charging the battery properly. If its the original alternator, but a new battery, then most likely it is bad, they last around 10-15 years. Most folks bite the bullet, go to the auto store, replace it and cross your fingers it does it. But before you do, make sure your battery is good, you have no corrosion on it or the cables, both on the battery side and the connectors for the alternator and the grounds, both frame and electronics side. Hope that helps. I am a phone "nerd", but have bought and sold over 25 cars in my life since my 69' Camaro at 15.

I need to know what color wires the two wires from the alternator the green with orange and yellow with whites stripe go s

Depends on the year make and model. Newer cars, those wires go to the engine control module. One is the alternator sense wire, the other is the alternator field(turns the alternator on to charge).

You might have a short in the wire somewhere. That could be a real pain to find, if it shorts out going over a bump or turning.

You might also have a defective alternator, but unlikely.

Replaced the alternator and battery light will not go out

Check all the fuses, under the hood,if they are fine, then run a new wire, off the alternator, the output wire,to the positive side of the battery,it is most likely broken somewhere.Leave the one that is on the alternator,do not remove it,just add a wire the same size,or larger(would be better)and go directly to the battery positive side.Make sure the alternator you purchased is good, you can get defects you know.

the basic amperage of all vehicles is 14 now if your using a higher output alternator you will want to go with a 16 or 18 amp alternator but overall you can order the alternator straight from dealer or any parts stores
i dont recommend junk yard for these kind of parts you really dont know what your going to get
