Hi maby i can help with your question are you trying to replace the manual trans with another of the same year from the same car. if they are the same year engine cc rating etc yes you should be able to go straight ahead and swap them over making sure you inspect the thrust bearing for the clutch to see if it is wobbly or really sloppy and the clutch itself for any blackining or cracking indicating it has been thrashed thus you should replace it and look at the pressure plate behind the clutch for any blue colour or warping you may need to replace it as well and a good idea would be to change the oil in the trans and see if any sparkly bits come out with it indicating the trans is worn and been thrashed.
if the clutch and pressure plate and thrust bearing off the old gearbox look good you should be able to use them.on the new one..

The Corolla gearbox has a longer tailshaft than the Starlet and the gearstick is in a different place, you may be able to fit with a modified driveshaft and a new hole in the floor , the starlet 5 speeds were a little fragile and prone to doing bearings. I would recommend rebuilding the one you have as it will probably be less hassle and cheaper.

Cylinder head torque 1n diesel engine

The Toyota Starlet is a fuel efficient compact car that replaced Toyota's Publica model in 1973 and was manufactured through the 1999 model year. The Starlet was sold new in the United States for only four years, from 1981 through the 1984 model year. Originally a rear-wheel drive car, the Starlet transitioned to front-wheel drive in 1984.

The 1981 to 1984 versions of the Starlet that were sold in the U.S. were powered by a 1.3 liter OHV engine with four cylinders and electronic fuel injection. The engine has a 2.95-inch bore and 2.87-inch stroke and produces 58 horsepower at 4,200 rpm. The 1981 and 1982 versions of the engine produced 67 ft-lbs of torque, and the 1983 and 1984 versions produced 74 ft-lbs of torque. The compression ratio is 9.5:1.
Hope that helps!!

Engine strap and wheels STARLET 98

By engine strap do you mean Cam belt? Which should be done every 100000kms or 60000miles tyres should be replaced when the tread gets below 3mm deep ( depending on your country's regulations ).
Try for the manual.
Hope this helps.

How to to install a manual trans in an automatic 92 corolla

Sometimes the pinion gear is a different size for the automatic and smaller for the manual, make sure you get this right or it will chatter your teeth out. You also need to find a car like yours with a manual trans so you can pull all these parts out, shifter, clutch pedal, a hydraulic master and slave, your speedo probably won't work, or fit, maybe. Your propeller shaft might not be the same length, but you can get that from the donor car. I would find another auto to put in there, it would be easier. Hope this helps.
