Question about BMW 528

1 Answer

I have a 2000 BMW 528, 140,000 miles. On cold mornings my car turns off when I try to warm it up. It starts without any problem. After approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute, the RPM gauge starts to go wander down, the car shakes and then the RPM increases, but eventually the RPM gauge goes to 0 and the car turns off. On very cold mornings, I may have to restart it 3-4 times. What do you think could be causing this.

Could be the VANOS Seals. You can buy them for 60.00 and it takes about 5 hours to do (but will save you a lot of money). Follow the steps at this site and you're good to go: http://www.beisansystems.com/

Good luck!

Bmw 323i makes noise when in cold start while turning the steering wheel even after warm it still does for a bit untill i feel the car has been driven for a while. It is 2000 with 190 000 kilometers aswell...

Your powered steering pump needs checking out as it sounds like a reco pump is needed and the rest of the steering needs a good check over ,but yes do check your fluid as if its low or empty then it can cost you more
It should be checked like the rest of the car every 3000 km same as Battery/Engine oil/Brake fluid/Tyres/ etc ...

Noisey injectors

im not entirely sure on injectors but i do know that engines need time to warm as the internal parts are made slightly smaller than they shud be to allow for heat expansion so when you start in a cold morning this could just be the case

Engine won't turn over

you drove from a warm climate to a cold one in a short period of time, compared to climate change which is gradual usually. My guess is that the last time you gassed up the car it was still warm there. When you change temperature quickly like that, condensation forms, and you get moisture in the tank and the fuel filter. When you reached you destination, and **** the car off, it was cold, and somewhere in the gas line it froze. Try changing the fuel filter, and ad a can of heat.
this should dry up the moisture, and solve your problem....
