Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

The engine turns over but does not start. There is enough fuel in the gas tank, and not sure if it's getting spark, or if the fuel pump or fuel filter is bad. This is the first time that the vehicle does not start. Please help.

I get spark and fuel but engine wont start

You may have fuel but not enough pressure coming from fuel pump which is in the gas tank.

I was driving my car and it backfired, and has not cranked since. it turns over but will not start was told it could be a electronic probelm. what could it be.

It could be gas or spark (ignition system). To find out why it won't start, you have to start checking. Does your fuel pump turn on? Turn the key to on,. not start. There should be a buzz or hum from the gas tank that lasts about 2 or 3 seconds. That is the pump inside the tank and it will put pressure in the gas line and put gas up to the engine. The pump is electrical. If you do not hear it come on, you will need the fuel pump circuit tested to find the problem.

If you do hear the pump, then you need to check ignition system: check for spark on a spark plug wire. If you are not sure how, then get someone to help you who knows how, because you need two people anyway- one to watch for spark and one to be cranking the engine over with the key. If you do have spark, a strong blue spark, maybe the injector circuit needs checked. The fuel pump puts gas up to the engine, and the injectors put gas inside the engine.
If you don't have spark on any spark plug wire, then the ignition system is the problem. This is pretty complex and needs electrical testing to find the problem with it. Post back if you have questions. Good luck.

I have a half a tank of gas in my car but for sum reason it wont start it cranks like it want to start but it dont after doing it for so long the battery drains out but all my lights and horn still works...

Make sure you are getting fuel to the engine. Your fuel pump (usually in the gas tank) may be bad. If it is getting fuel, then likely it has an ignition problem (no spark).

92 vw passat 2.0 16v wont start.

I bet it's the gas. After some time the gas will no longer be volatile enough to start the car. Try draining all the fuel and putting in some fresh gas. Remember, when you try to start it again you'll need to get the new gas through the pump and lines before it will start. Also, check the condition of the injectors. Old gas can start to break down and build up a film that could be on your injectors (or clog your fuel filter- better check that too). Hope this helps.

Hard to start

Guessing that you have the 4.3 vortec and that you just parked it and it has gas in the tank and the battery is up high enough to crank the engine fast. The days before this happened the Blazer ranjust fine. The fuel pump either stopped or is'nt putting out enough pressure. But check easy things first, Is there gas in the tank? does the engine have spark? Pull a plug wire off and lay it on a medal part of the engine and crank it and it should spark loud enough that you can see it and hear it. Good move on, bad, Look at the dash meter. Is the security light staying on? or does it act like it always does? Or it's possible that your car doesn't have one. Was the Blazer running without the check engine light on last time it was running? If it was a scanner needs to beconnected and check for engine control codes. Follow up on codes and then clear them and try again. Still nor running? The fuel pressure too low is tricky to verify, If it has spark it's likly to run, Ad a litle gas to the air inlet and start it it's possible it'll start and then keep running, cause it may have enough pressure to run but not start. (proof the fuel pump is bad) It may flash off (start up but quit soon) just running on the fuel you added. Have someone help you and listen for the fuel pump, Take the gas cap off and put in a funnel, Shake the truck and listen for the fuel slossing around. Have someone try to start and let off the key in run and you should be able to hear the pump at the funnell, It hums or buzzes, If it's very loud it's possibly bad too. Very good pumps with lots of gas in the tank are hard to hear, The pump stops shortly after the key isn't cranking and the engine is'nt running. If it's runnung and it still doesn't start but will flash start withthe added fuel, get a fuel pressur tester and connect it to the fuel line port naer the firewall behind the intake manifold. 50 psi or higher and it'll start if it's going to less than 45 it might run. lower than that it won't.

Not starting - power to spark plugs engine won't start

You checked for, and have spark, next check for fuel to plugs. After several attempts to start, pull a plug and look for evidence of fuel (should be damp after several starting attempts) Do you hear a humming sound when the key is turned on to start? That would be coming from the gas tank, and is evidence that the fuel pump is functioning. If no gas, no humm, check for power to fuel pump. If there is power to the fuel pump and connections are ok, the pump is bad and needs to be replaced. If humm present, try changing the fuel filter, there's a chance it's plugged up. Let me know how it goes.

Wont run

Try checking those sparks again. It could be a weak spark not enough to start your engine.
Make sure also that you have fresh gasoline, as gasoline or diesel looses it's effectiveness after a long time.

Discovery land rover will not fire.

try taking the air cleaner assembly off you might not be getting enough air to engine
if this is the case then the throttle body needs to be maintenanced

heres another suggestion it just hasnt sucked gas to the engine to crank over sometimes they help

go out buy an electric fuel pump
find the fuel inlet source to engine hook up electric fuel pump
attach only ground to something in engine compartment
then get a can so that when gas comes out it has something to go into
tap the electric fuel pump power lead to the positive of battery let run till gas comes out make sure not to spark your working with gas
once gas becomes present detach electric fuel pump all the way set aside
hook gas line back to port and then start vehicle this should start

also with fuel filters there are 3 on a vehicle
one in engine compartment
one on chassis back by the tank
and one in the tank called the sending unit this has a filter in the tank this one could be clogged
make sure these filters are in the right position with gas flow flowing in right direction
