Your engine is worn out if the oil pump is gone. it is 21 years old. you can spend a grand getting a lower mileage engine and install it, or you can spend the same money and get a vehicle 10 years newer.

Check oil pressure with a manual gauge. My sender was bad and showed low oil pressure especially at idle. Replaced sender and pressure is where it's supposed to be.

change the oil pressure sending unit on the eng. if this goes bad it sends the wrong voltage to the computer which will then detune the engine to reduce the chance of damage due to low oil pressure . Good Luck

Oil pressure sensor

It is possible that the oil pressure sending unit is bad, it is also possible for a bad gauge, faulty wiring or internal engine wear may cause this also. Best to use a mechanical guage to verify pressure is truely low...

How many miles are on the engine? Have you tried to replace the oil pressure switch? is the engine making any type of noise due to low pressure reading?

How to you check to see if the oil pressure guage is bad or if there's a pressure problem itself?

Connect test leads to the guage and apply 12 volts, if the guage activates upward this works, if it's the oil preaaure in regards to the oil pump, you need to hook up a oil pressure guage.

CHANGED MY OIL BECAUSE GAGE WAS READING LOW OIL PRESSURE AND I HAD NO OIL LIFE, TRIED TO RESET OIL LIFE TO 100%, WHICH I DID BUT ON MY DASH ITS STILL READING LOW OIL PRESSURE AND THE GAGE GOES BACK AND...

you either have a faulty oil pressure switch or you have poor oil pressure.if you find the oil pressure switch remove it and install a manuel oil pressure guage there. then you will see if it is the actual oil pressure weak or if it is the switch.

Temp guage read hot, volt guage reads low, and oil pressure guage tops out. Could this be a bad ground?

Possibly, i would check the sending unit and of course the wires that connect to the temp prob. They often become worn or even short out on other wires. I suspect that the gage is telling the truth and you have a blown head gasket. Check the oil for water. Check the water level and see if you are losing water. good luck

Low Oil Pressure and rough idle

Please understand, all I can offer you are suggestions, since I don't have access to hands on testing. You might first change oil and filter.
If going by the oil pressure guage, low oil pressure can mean worn crankshaft bearings, as the clearance between bearings and crankshaft is what determines oil pressure.
Of course a worn oil pump can cause the same problem.
You might want to connect an external oil pressure guage to the engine to verify the pressure reading.

The rough running at this point would be hard to pin poit.
Because I do not know the extent of the rust, I can suggest that you consider having it undercoated.

Again, I can only make suggestion because you need an absoluate diagnosis.
