Sounds like the vent tube has been restricted, as you put gas in it, the air in there has to be pushed out as well. replace the sending unit.

We can't put more than $20 in the tank before it starts to over flow, with the gas gauge on empty when we start pumping. Then the gauge reads 3/4 tank. When it runs down to half it jumps straight down to...

Your fuel pump assembly located inside the gas tank has a float that measures how much gasoline is in the tank. False readings means the fuel pump assembly needs to be replaced.

When gas tank is about half empty the engine want to die when driving

The gas filter is clogged up.
It's in the gas tank. You should buy a new gas pump and it comes with a new filter. This will kill two birds with one stone.

Car goes dead when gas tank is half empty what is the problem

Faulty fuel pump. Probably internal ground in pump. When tank is full, the gas will absorb the heat the pump generates keeping the pump nice and cool. Tank half empty, the pump is now exposed, with its long nose stuck still deeply into the bottom of your 1/2 empty tank. Now with fuel pump exposed, it gets hot, the gaskets and things inside the pump swell up, and the pump fails to turn. Your car quits untill the pump cools off, (if your lucky) can be only a second between cool and hot/non function.

2003 Chevy S10 had fuel pump replaced. When fuel gauge shows slightly below half, the gauge falls to empty and low fuel lights blinks. What could be causing this?

sounds like the sending unit rheostat(sending unit) has a bad contact or break in the resistance wire. inside the tank theres a float attached to an arm that goes to a small rheostat, like a volume control on a stereo. the rheostat is sending a scratchy signal or no signal to the computer and your getting these readings. that part is inside the gas tank, the part usually comes integrated with the fuel pump. the gas tank has to be lowered to fix it.

Gas gauge wont go past half it stops at half and will go to empty but never past half

There is a fuel gauge sensor in your fuel tank. If the sensor is out of place, it will not read the amount of gas in your tank correctly if it is out of place. This is a fixable job, but I recommend a ceritfied mechanic. Hope this helps! Please give 4 thumbs up!

My gas gauge goes from empty to full within 5 seconds, and it will show low gas when there is half tank or more..

Replace the sending unit in the tank. You don't have to replace the whole pump assembly, You can buy just the gauge sender from the dealer.

I was driving for about 15 minutes then i looked at my gas gauge and thought it was empty. It was below empty. My car shut off. Well...we put gas in it and it still wont start.. what could it be??

how much gas you put in?
if its below empty u would have drained the pump out you have to atleast have half a tank now and keep winding engine till the gas goes up the tubes again the tank and the tubes will be dry as a bone
