Your going to have to get under it to see if it is gummed up. Spray penetrating oil liberally on those connecting rods and try to move it. Remember,,,,no matter what your manual says or the dealer that squawks about 4 wheel on the fly... come to a stop, put it in neutral then shift in to 4 wheel.
