Question about Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

My four wheel is not working. When I switch from 2 wheel to four it doesn't switch. I've had this problem before and I had to turn to four wheel then go to neutral, but now it is not switching to four wheel at all.

I need to know what kind of vehicle, but here it goes.
most are either vacume operated or electronically operated, check for bad switches and/or cracked vacume lines.

98 chevy blazer and I had a mechanic look at and he said the vacuum is working. I also tried disconnecting the battery for 10 mins or so.

just because its got vacume does not mean its getting it when the switch is selected, check before and after the selector for vacume. if its bush button, then it might be a bad engagement solonoid, all the way up to a split wire. as far as the system working, it has to have all the necessary requirements(vacume/power/ground)...etc

Usually when it works, then doesn't. Then you shut off power and turn it on and it works again. It is a module. Yours would be the steering module. These are the hardest problems to diagnose(any of the computers on the car can do this). You just spent too much for someone telling you every thing is OK. But not really. Now comes the electrical part. Checking everything from the switch to the computer and making sure it is good.

I have a 1998 Lincoln navigator and its stuck in 4x4 low ranger I've turn the switch back to 2 wheel but it wont go. What can I do? Is there a way to manually switch it or.... Somebody please help. I can't...

No way that that I know..sounds like your four wheel modulator that controls the four/two wheel drive operation is defective..Not sure where yours is located but if you can find it it can be purchased and changed out DIY..Just a plug in cinnections. It can be a couple hundred bucks for the Mod...but much more if done by a repair garage...Try this,,go into utube and ask how to replace the four wheel drive modual for your vehicle..or ask for problem solving your four wheel drive..and see what you find..I have used it with good results...good luck..

Four wheel wont disengage. had switch for 4x4 set to 2wd and the light switched to 4wd while driving down the road and the four wheel drive engaged. Tried to switch from 2wd to 4wd and back but didnt...

if it is a turn knob that puts it in 4x4.then a wire under the truck is touching the exhaust pipe making it do this. I had this happen to mine. It will be 2 wires so they more and likely came loose.

Radio problem, keeps beeping and saying code.

On the controls on the steering wheel hold the vol + & - for a couple of seconds and this should bring up the 0000 on screen and then its a case of spinning the wheel control on the side and holding + & - to set it.

Four wheel drive switch on dash (electric)

Push the "2 hi" switch while you're driving it.

You can do this while you're driving, as these systems have "shift on the fly".

You will hear / feel a "clunk" when the system disengages, and you will see the "2 hi" light come back on..
